Chapter 97: Event Over; A Strange Reward? Meeting Cang Feiyun Again?
...
"Yeah..."
The Night King let out a bitter, self-deprecating laugh. On his side, sixty thousand players remained. On Seito's side, there were only eight.
But the disparity was soul-crushing. The Night King's elite "high-tier" players were almost entirely wiped out; his remaining forces were just common fodder. Meanwhile, not a single one of Seito's Executives had fallen. The gap in quality was an abyss.
"As expected of a God-tier player," he muttered. Without another word, he drew a finger across his own throat, his body instantly dissolving into shimmering light particles.
Seito: "..."
Seito's mouth twitched. He didn't think the guy was being "noble" or "warrior-like." By committing suicide, the Night King ensured Seito wouldn't get the massive point bounty from his death.
What a petty move, Seito grumbled internally. He ignored the remaining sixty thousand confused players and pulled up the final rankings.
[Final Leaderboard]
Sei (Rose King) | Factions Defeated: 13,000+
Shiro (Loli King) | Factions Defeated: 12,000+
Sora (Gaming King) | Factions Defeated: 12,000+
Chifuyu Yuki (Rose Queen) | Factions Defeated: 7,628
Beiming Fish (North Sea King) | Factions Defeated: 7,601
The Top 3 were locked in. At this stage, no one could catch them. Seito let out a long breath of relief.
"Let's go. Time to find a place to rest."
He scooped up Amou and Haruno and took to the skies. The other Executives followed suit, leaving sixty thousand leaderless players standing in the wasteland, blinking at each other in total bewilderment.
They rested until the official timer hit zero, and the system announcement thundered across the server.
[The "War of Factions" event has concluded.]
[Distributing rewards...]
[Player "Sei," your Mystery Gift Pack has been delivered.]
[Floors 21 through 50 are now officially OPEN!]
[Pet System is now active!]
[Note: When all regional servers clear Floor 20, a global server merge will occur!]
Seito didn't hesitate. He pulled the glowing gift from his inventory and tore it open.
[Ding! You have received: "Fragment of a Mysterious Cup".]
[Description: This fragment was once part of a vessel capable of granting any wish! However, for unknown reasons, it was shattered.]
Seito: "???"
What is this? Seito was genuinely stumped. The information was even scanter than his first mystery reward. But "a cup that grants any wish"?
He immediately looked at Sora and Shiro. In their original world, wasn't there a BUG-tier item called the Suniaster (Star Cup)? He wondered if this fragment shared any lineage with that legendary artifact. He tucked it away for later study.
The nearby Executives saw the notification but looked equally confused. "Just a fragment?" Maple tilted her head, unable to wrap her brain around it.
"Who cares? If it's a mystery reward, it's gotta be cracked," Sora grinned. He was certain this second event's loot would outshine the first. Even if they didn't know the use yet, it was likely more valuable than the "Breath of God" they'd seen before.
Sora pulled out his own reward, and the group huddled to check the specs.
"Territory? A Lord Order?"
They all looked a bit odd. It seemed the content after Floor 20 was shifting toward kingdom-building and land management. Seito cut through their speculation.
"Don't overthink it. We can just sell these to other players later. A Lord Order isn't nearly as practical as a Deprivation Order."
Seito pulled out his own Deprivation Order and explained the difference. Once they realized a Lord Order required spending massive amounts of gold to actually buy and develop the land, their interest evaporated. Strictly speaking, Sora's reward was worth more than a dozen Gold-tier items, but in the face of Seito's "cheat" items, it felt like a chore.
"Seito-kun, Sally and I are heading offline,"
Maple said, rubbing her eyes. It was getting late, and they had school in the morning.
"Yeah, go ahead. Amou, Kanade, you two should grab some late-night snacks and head to bed too. I'm staying on for a bit." Seito had no intention of sleeping yet; he wanted to see what Floor 50 looked like.
"Alright," Amou nodded.
The students logged out, leaving only Seito, the Blank siblings, and Haruno Yukinoshita.
"Haruno, do you want to head back?" Seito asked.
"No, I'll stay with you," Haruno smiled warmly.
"Good. First stop: Feiling City on Floor 11."
Sora and Shiro immediately understood his intention. Haruno didn't ask questions; she was content just to follow his lead. The four of them opened their menus, input the coordinates, and vanished in a flash of blue light.
God's Domain, Floor 11: Feiling City.
Returning to the familiar city, the four of them marched straight to the City Lord's mansion. They bypassed the guards and arrived at the door to Cang Feiyun's office.
Knock, knock, knock.
"Enter!" a voice called from within.
Seito opened the door. Cang Feiyun was buried under a mountain of paperwork. He looked up, his initial surprise melting into a welcoming smile.
"Ah, my adventurer friends! Please, take a seat."
Seito didn't waste time on pleasantries. "City Lord Cang, the 20th Floor has been cleared. We now have access up to Floor 50. My question is: how do we reach the levels beyond that?"
Cang Feiyun froze, his pen hovering over a document. "The 20th Floor is clear?"
"Exactly," Seito said firmly.
A wide, genuine grin broke across Cang Feiyun's face—the look of a man who had just won the lottery. "Excellent... you truly did not disappoint my expectations!"
