Chapter 41 - Ch41:Plains and People

Chapter 41: Plains and People

The Central River Plains had been quiet for a long time.

Not empty.

Just… slower.

Compared to the Deep Forest, nothing dramatic happened here. No strong competition, no resource zones, no obvious pressure.

But that was starting to change.

Alicia noticed it when the green Life Energy from the World Seed began circulating more evenly across the plains.

Grass grew thicker.

The soil held more vitality.

Small plants began spreading in clusters instead of randomly.

"…Finally," Alicia muttered. "You're catching up."

She focused more carefully.

The plains didn't have a strong Spiritual Vein like the forest, but they had something else:

open space

stable terrain

consistent Life Energy flow

That made them ideal for a different kind of development.

Not intensity.

But expansion.

Then she noticed the humans.

They had grown.

Not stronger in a dramatic way—but more organized.

Groups were forming.

Not large ones yet.

Small clusters of primitive humans, staying closer together than before.

They moved along the river more often now.

They returned to the same areas repeatedly.

They were learning patterns.

"…You're not wandering anymore," Alicia said quietly.

That was important.

Because once movement becomes intentional, survival improves.

She watched one group closely.

They approached a patch of land where the grass was thicker and greener than the surrounding area.

A low-density Life Energy zone.

One of them crouched and touched the ground.

Another stayed alert, watching the surroundings.

They didn't understand why the area felt better.

But they noticed it.

That was enough.

Alicia narrowed her focus.

"…So you can feel it."

Not clearly.

Not consciously.

But instinctively.

The same way beasts were drawn to resource zones—

humans were being drawn to better land.

She scanned the plains again.

And this time, she noticed something new.

Small changes.

Subtle, but consistent.

In several areas, the grass wasn't just growing—

it was changing.

Denser.

Healthier.

Holding more Life Energy than before.

Alicia focused on one patch.

Ding!

[Natural Development Detected]

Vital Grass Cluster

A naturally enriched grass zone formed under stable Life Energy flow.

Effect:

improves stamina of nearby lifeforms

increases recovery speed slightly

supports long-term habitation

Alicia paused.

"…Not a herb."

But still useful.

Very useful.

Because this wasn't a resource you pick.

It was a resource you live in.

She looked back at the humans.

They were already settling near that area.

Not permanently.

But more often.

Returning.

Staying longer.

Resting.

"…You're choosing your territory," Alicia said.

That was different from beasts.

Beasts fought for strong zones.

Humans…

adapted to them.

She watched as one human gathered thicker grass and placed it in a small pile.

Another stayed nearby.

Guarding.

Not aggressively.

Just… aware.

Alicia tilted her head slightly.

"…That's new."

It wasn't full cooperation.

But it wasn't random behavior either.

It was the beginning of basic structure.

She expanded her awareness.

Across the plains, similar patterns were forming:

groups staying near stable zones

repeated movement paths

early signs of role behavior (some watch, some gather)

Nothing advanced.

But consistent.

Then Alicia connected it.

Forest → competition → pressure → faster growth

Plains → stability → gathering → slow structure

Different paths.

Same foundation.

Life Energy.

"…So this is how you develop," she said.

Not through immediate strength.

But through:

space

repetition

and small improvements

She looked back at the forest for a moment.

Then at the plains.

Two regions.

Two directions.

Both working.

"…Good."

That meant her world wasn't becoming one-dimensional.

Each region was forming its own identity.

That was important for long-term growth.

Then she noticed something else.

Near one of the Vital Grass clusters—

a small beast approached.

It stopped at the edge.

Watching.

At the same time, a group of humans stood nearby.

Also watching.

Neither side moved.

Alicia focused.

"…First contact?"

Not really.

They had probably seen each other before.

But this was different.

This was a shared space.

A valuable one.

The beast stepped forward slightly.

The humans didn't attack.

But they didn't retreat either.

Tension formed.

Quiet.

Unstable.

After a few moments, the beast moved away.

Slowly.

The humans stayed.

Alicia watched the entire exchange.

Then said:

"…So not everything turns into a fight."

That was good.

For now.

She pulled back and looked at the plains again.

The changes were still small.

But they were spreading.

Vital zones forming.

Humans adapting.

Patterns stabilizing.

The system chimed.

Ding!

[Regional Progress Update]

Central River Plains

stable Life Energy zones forming

early human grouping behavior detected

environmental adaptation increasing

Result:

Development speed increased (low)

Alicia nodded once.

No big rewards.

Just progress.

She looked at the plains one more time.

Then said quietly:

"…Let's see which grows faster."

"Order… or instinct."

Author Note

The plains are starting to change, and humans are beginning to adapt.

What do you think Alicia should focus on next?

Expand Life Energy further

Develop another region

Or push human growth a bit more?
