"Awesome! Finally, a proper meal! You came at just the right time, Broly!"
Son Goku was practically drooling. "I've been eating nothing but Senzu Beans for months. I was starting to forget what real food tastes like!"
He grabbed a roasted chicken leg and bit down hard. The savory flavor exploded in his mouth, juices running down his chin.
"Ahhh… This is what food should be!"
Broly didn't bother talking much and sat down to eat as well. His table manners were calm and controlled, in stark contrast to Goku's devouring frenzy.
Truthfully, the dishes from the
Treasure Pot
had begun to feel repetitive to Broly. Delicious or not, even gourmet food loses novelty when eaten every day. Still, he ate to accompany Goku while observing
King Kai and the planet.
Broly then called out a list of dishes gifted by
Yajirobe:
"Braised sea cucumber with scallions, oil-braised prawns, nine-turn large intestine, sweet-and-sour carp, Kung Pao chicken…"
Dish after dish appeared from the pot—rich colors, heavy aromas. The table grew crowded instantly.
Broly generously passed the nine-turn intestine to King Kai.
King Kai froze, sweat trickling down his face.
"What… exactly is this…?"
He quickly handed the plate to
Bubbles, who happily grabbed handfuls and ate enthusiastically.
Gods and Questions
"What is this place exactly?" Broly asked while eating.
"It's essentially the realm of the gods," King Kai replied.
"Then you're a god?"
"I am the North Kai, the god who governs the North Galaxy," King Kai said proudly.
"So you must know many things." Broly leaned forward, hopeful.
"There is nothing in this universe that I do not know," King Kai declared confidently.
"Then I want to ask about someone."
"Go ahead."
"Have you heard of the Grand Priest?"
The air went silent.
Even Bubbles paused mid-chew.
"Grand Priest?" King Kai blinked, completely lost.
He knew
Whis
and
Beerus, but not the Grand Priest. His divine rank simply wasn't high enough to access that knowledge.
"I've never heard of him," King Kai admitted. "But from the title… he must be an extremely high-ranking god."
Broly frowned slightly. "Even you don't know him?"
"Where did you even hear that name?"
"In a dream… or maybe buried in my consciousness," Broly said honestly.
King Kai nearly choked. "You dreamed of someone and want me to locate them?"
But Broly shook his head. "He exists. And he's very powerful… possibly stronger than me."
King Kai froze.
Stronger than Broly? That was terrifying.
Who Is the Strongest?
Broly then asked, "Who is the strongest in the universe? Is it
Frieza?"
King Kai nodded. "Frieza is indeed known as the emperor of the universe. But… I don't believe he could defeat you."
Goku blinked in surprise. "Broly could beat Frieza?"
"Yes," King Kai said seriously.
"Then who's stronger than Frieza?"
"Among living mortals? No one," King Kai replied. "But long ago there was
Majin Buu—an incredibly powerful being. He's sealed away now, though, so he doesn't count."
"Where is he sealed?" Broly asked immediately.
"No idea. Only the
Supreme Kai knows."
Broly leaned back, clearly disappointed.
"So there's nobody strong left to fight?"
"Among mortals, no. But… there are gods."
Broly's eyes lit up again.
"Are you strong?" Broly asked, assessing King Kai directly.
King Kai nearly choked. "Not me! I'm more of a supervisor! The strongest god in this universe is Beerus, the God of Destruction."
Goku stopped eating. "Beerus? He's that strong?"
"Yes. Extremely."
"What do you mean 'this universe'?" Broly asked.
King Kai sighed. "There are twelve universes, each with its own God of Destruction. Beerus is ours."
"Other universes have strong fighters too?" Broly asked.
"I don't know. I've never left Universe Seven."
"Where is Beerus now?"
"In the God of Destruction's realm. He spends most of his time sleeping. Sometimes for decades."
"Then wake him up and have him fight me," Broly said calmly.
King Kai went silent.
He opened his mouth. Closed it. Opened it again.
Who do you think you are?! You want me to wake Beerus so he can fight you?!
King Kai screamed internally, but looking at Broly's completely serious expression… he wisely swallowed his protest.
