The shattered courtyard of the royal palace had already become a battlefield.
White Fang stood calmly amid the rubble, his blade resting lightly in his hand. Across from him, the Marine admiral Kizaru watched with his usual lazy expression, golden light flickering around his body like sunlight reflected on water.
Moments earlier, Kizaru's attack had torn apart the palace walls. The devastating power of the Light-Light Fruit had left the surrounding Marines stunned.
Yet White Fang remained unmoved.
After witnessing the display of light-based attacks, White Fang admitted that Kizaru's power was impressive—but far from enough to defeat him. His tone was calm, but the challenge in his eyes was unmistakable.
Kizaru's smile faded slightly.
Without another word, White Fang moved first.
His body vanished in a blur.
The Marines barely had time to react before a flash of steel appeared in front of Kizaru. White Fang's blade cut downward with terrifying speed.
The admiral's body instantly dissolved into light.
The blade passed through empty air.
In the next moment, Kizaru reappeared several meters away, golden particles gathering to reconstruct his body.
The duel had begun.
Seeing their admiral attacked, several Marines rushed forward to assist.
Water-based abilities erupted across the battlefield.
Columns of water surged upward, spears of pressurized liquid shot toward White Fang, and explosive waves rolled across the courtyard. The attacks overlapped, forming a chaotic storm meant to trap their enemy.
But White Fang ignored them completely.
His figure cut through the battlefield like a phantom.
Every step carried him closer to Kizaru.
The Marines' attacks crashed against stone walls and shattered pillars, but none of them could slow him down.
In the blink of an eye, White Fang reached the admiral again.
Steel flashed.
Another strike.
Kizaru turned into light once more, slipping away just before the blade could touch him.
This time he counterattacked.
Golden beams shot from his fingertips like lasers, tearing through the air with blinding speed.
The courtyard exploded again and again as the attacks struck the ground.
White Fang twisted through the barrage with uncanny precision. The beams carved trenches through stone, but none of them hit their target.
Their battle accelerated.
Slash.
Flash.
Explosion.
The courtyard trembled under the force of their clash.
Every collision between blade and light released violent shockwaves that pushed nearby Marines backward.
Watching from the edge of the battlefield, the soldiers could barely follow the movements of the two fighters.
To them, it looked like lightning flashing across the courtyard.
White Fang laughed in the middle of the fight.
"So this is the power of a Marine admiral?"
"Not bad."
"But you'll need more than that."
Kizaru raised an eyebrow.
The usual laziness in his expression faded slightly.
"You're troublesome," he admitted.
Golden light began gathering in his hand again, brighter than before.
White Fang's grip tightened on his blade.
The atmosphere grew heavy.
Even the Marines sensed the change.
This time, the admiral was serious.
A spear of condensed light formed in Kizaru's palm.
Energy surged violently around it, distorting the air itself.
White Fang didn't retreat.
Instead, he stepped forward.
"Good," he said with a grin.
"I was getting bored."
The spear of light shot forward.
The explosion that followed shook the entire royal city.
Dust and rubble filled the air as the courtyard vanished beneath the blast.
For a moment, the battlefield disappeared in smoke.
Then—
A figure emerged from the debris.
White Fang.
His clothes were torn and dust-covered, but his eyes still burned with excitement.
Across the ruins, Kizaru watched him calmly.
The admiral's expression had finally changed.
"…You're stronger than I expected."
White Fang raised his blade once more.
The wind howled through the shattered palace.
"This fight," he said quietly,
"is just getting interesting."
