Veronica went from college boyfriend-girlfriend to husband and wife with Jonathan Rollings. They got married and on Jonathan’s request, kept their marriage a secret. He even gave her a silver band saying one day he would change it to a diamond ring. 
Two years after their marriage, Jonathan met Imelda who promised to help him build his business for a favor. 
Fulfilling this favor, seven years have passed by.

"Daddy?" Joshua said, disappointed. "Your flipping pages together, how will you see the stars the teacher gave me?"


"Joshua," Veronica said as she came over. "Why don't you let Daddy drink his tea, then he'll see the stars your teacher gave you, what say?"


"Oh," Joshua said, smiling. "I totally forgot Daddy came from the office. Janet said Daddy would come home, drink tea then check her drawings. Okay, I'll wait."


Hearing Joshua tell Janet told him about the time before she left, felt good.


It made me realize how Veronica and Janet kept me part of Joshua's life even though I wasn't there.


"Jonathan?" Veronica asked as she sat beside me. "What's the matter?"


"Nothing," I said. "Just…I can't get Fredrick out of my mind."


I looked towards Veronica and realized I had lots to tell.
