Chapter 36 - Chapter 36: A Rift in the Soul... and the Erasure of Existence

Inside the sacred precinct of the Temple of Zeus in Olympia, the silence that fell was not a natural absence of sound. It was the "Death of Time" in its most hideous form. The Code Phantom stood at the very center of the holy circle, inhabiting Akira's body, which had begun to radiate a dense, light-eating blackness. He raised his hand toward the sky as if grasping the throat of Destiny itself. Suddenly, the universe stuttered. The stars that adorned the Greek sky froze in mid-twinkle; the winds that had been caressing the ancient olive trees solidified into a stagnant, stony ether. It was as if the entire cosmos had been imprisoned within a static oil painting, a masterpiece of desolation.

**Code Phantom** (With a terrifying voice that vibrated like the hissing of serpents in a bottomless well): "The circle is finally complete. The energy of the Third Wonder has been poured into my veins like aged, lethal wine. Now... Time draws its final, gasping breath to make way for the Era of Absolute Void."

**Aiko** (Her scream shattering the artificial silence as she gripped Eiji's arm with frantic strength): "Eiji! Look at the sky! The stars are dying... they're winking out! The ground beneath us is fraying like burnt paper!"

Eiji tried to step forward, his dual blades trembling in his hands from the sheer weight of the temporal pressure that threatened to turn his bones to powder. He collapsed to his knees, his lungs burning. In that critical moment, the earth beneath them split open, and **Atsurai** emerged amidst a flare of pure azure light that sliced through the gloom like a divine scalpel.

**Atsurai** (Her voice sharp and commanding, leaving no room for hesitation): "There is no time for debate or mourning! If you stay here for even a second longer, you will be erased from existence along with this era! Fall back, now!"

In the blink of an eye, Atsurai pulled Eiji and Aiko through a luminous rift. They vanished just as the absolute darkness descended upon the temple, swallowing the majesty of Greece and turning it into a vacuum where no human foot had ever trod.

Eiji opened his eyes to find himself floating in an infinite black expanse, a place between realities. Transparent platforms drifted through the void, surrounded by gargantuan crystals the size of mountains. Each crystal pulsed with living scenes from different eras: knights clashing in mud, cities rising from dust, and ancient ships braving uncharted seas.

**Aiko** (In a state of awe as she reached out to touch the transparent air): "Where are we? What are these crystals? They look like they are holding the very souls of humanity inside them."

**Atsurai** (Sighing with a heavy, ancient sadness): "Welcome to the **Crystal Dome**... the neural center of Time itself. Long ago, Time was a chaotic tangle of threads, so fragile that a single wrong move could erase entire civilizations. My ancestors compressed those threads into these crystals to protect them and organize their flow."

**Eiji** (Gazing with hatred at the Greek crystal, which had begun to crack and turn a dull, ashen grey): "Atsurai... who is **Erebus**? The Code Phantom spoke his name with a terror I've never seen in him."

**Atsurai** (Her eyes reflecting the flicker of dying eras): "Erebus was the greatest architect of these crystals, their first guardian. But immortality was his curse. He spent thousands of years watching humanity; he saw their endless greed, their futile wars, and the ugliness of their souls. He decided that this beautiful system did not deserve to protect a race as chaotic as yours. He turned on his people, seeking to shatter the crystals and return Time to its primal state the state of 'Threads' so he could weave a cold, new timeline where humans have no place."

Back in the ruins of Greece, the Code Phantom stood triumphant, but his body suddenly convulsed. He fell to his knees, clutching his head as a scream tore through the vacuum of the void.

**Code Phantom** (His voice splitting into two dissonant layers, fighting for control): "What... what is this rebellion?! Why does this meat refuse to obey the power of the Void?!"

**Akira** (His voice broken, emerging from the depths of his imprisoned soul like a man fighting to breathe): "You... will not... touch my son! This body is not just your vessel... this hand... it still remembers the warmth of his small hand on that dark night. You cannot... erase the father in me!"

**Code Phantom** (Roaring with a fury that shook the crumbling pillars of the temple): "Silence, you human wreckage! The energy flowing through your veins now will incinerate your will just as fire consumes straw!"

Eiji and Aiko were thrust back into their own world, but the city was not as they had left it. A strange, eerie stillness draped over the streets, and the people moved with a mechanical, unsettling rhythm. Eiji walked Aiko to her darkened home, the weight of the unknown pressing down on them.

**Eiji** (Anxiety gnawing at his stomach): "How are your parents, Aiko? We haven't seen them in so long."

**Aiko** (Her voice small and hollow as she stared at the closed curtains): "They are in the sanatorium. They couldn't survive the shock of the old accident... and the loss of your father. My brother is the only one left to me, but he won't stop crying. He says he feels like a part of his heart has vanished, as if the world has become fundamentally incomplete."

The next day, the two headed to school with fractured minds. During the history lecture, Eiji stood up, his face pale, and raised a trembling hand.

**Eiji** (His voice echoing in the quiet classroom): "Professor, regarding what happened in Ancient Greece... the Olympic Games... how much did that civilization influence our laws today?"

**The History Professor** (Staring at him with profound bewilderment, as if Eiji were speaking a dead language): "Greece? Olympia? What are you talking about, Eiji? Have you been reading fantasy novels again? There has never been a civilization by that name in human history, nor is there a country called Greece on any map, ancient or modern."

The blood froze in Eiji's veins. He pulled out his phone, his hands shaking as he typed into the search engines: *Greece, Athens, Socrates.*

**Screen:** *"Sorry, no results found. Did you mean 'Lyon'?"*

Eiji looked at Aiko, who sat in her seat, weeping silently as she stared at her own phone. Greece had been erased from the collective memory, from the books, and from the digital records of the world. It was as if millions of people, the greatest philosophers, and the legends of the Olympics had never been anything more than a mirage in the minds of Eiji and Aiko alone. They were now guardians of a history that no longer existed.
