He had just confirmed in the monitoring room that, thankfully, his 50 million hadn't been killed.
So he's in a good mood right now.
It has been almost exactly five days since he set off, and he has earned fifty million in five days. He can be considered someone who earns tens of millions a day!
Tony and Ethan, however, were unaware that their savior had arrived.
Even though it's already dark, they, oblivious to day and night, were still diligently modifying their self-destructive incendiary bomb inside the cave.
It wasn't until the knocking on the iron gate that the two, engrossed in their work and oblivious to the time, stopped what they were doing and exchanged glances.
Tony: "Is it already the second day?"
Ethan: "I don't know either..."
Tony: "Go say something to stall them. I'm almost done modifying the incendiary bomb!"
Ethan:...
Damn it!
Ethan cursed under his breath, then grabbed a wrench and steeled himself as he walked to the iron gate.
"No... I'm not home!"
Lock Parker at the door:...
"Open the door, I've come to rescue you."
Ethan was taken aback by what he heard and then glanced out through the only window of the iron gate.
It was as if he hadn't looked at it at all; the moment he did, he saw Lock Parker wearing a black hood and with blood-red eyes.
This startled Ethan so much that he took two steps back.
I don't believe you for a second. What kind of good person would come to rescue someone dressed like this?
Therefore, Ethan hid behind the door and shouted, "I don't believe it!"
Lock Parker, who already had very little patience, completely lost it after hearing this.
After taking two steps back, he delivered a powerful front kick to the iron gate!
With a single, nearly 100-ton kick from Lock Parker, the iron gate roared and flew out, finally embedding itself deeply into the wall.
Fortunately, Ethan had hidden to the side of the door against the wall. Otherwise, he would probably have been sandwiched between the iron door and the wall by now.
Ethan was clearly shocked that Lock Parker would break in in such an unexpected way and now stood there dumbfounded, holding a wrench and staring at him.
Lock Parker was a master at killing, but asking him to comfort people was a different story.
So after patting Ethan on the shoulder, Lock Parker walked over to Tony, who had already made such a commotion and was now facing away from him, seemingly busy with something.
Just as Lock Parker was about to reach out and pat Tony on the shoulder, his Spider-Sense suddenly went off!
And the direction from which the danger signal came was none other than Tony himself!
Realizing something was wrong, Lock Parker didn't care whether Tony was worth fifty million or not and delivered a side kick to Tony's waist, sending him flying!
Once Tony was no longer blocking his view, Lock Parker could see that there was a bomb on the table as large as a basketball!
And the bomb was just one step away from being detonated once Tony installed the activation device!
Holy crap, such a huge bomb! Is this guy planning to blow the entire cave to pieces?
Just as Lock Parker was marveling at the size of the bomb, he felt a faint Spider-Sense alert behind him.
This time, Lock Parker caught the wrench smashed toward the back of his head without turning around and used it to fling Ethan—who was attacking from behind—next to Tony, who was clutching his stomach and gasping for air.
After falling to the ground, Ethan saw that although Tony's face was flushed, he was at least still breathing, and he breathed a sigh of relief.
"Oh, thank goodness, Tony, I thought you were pinned to the wall by that guy, just like our iron gate!"
Tony, in so much pain he couldn't speak: ?
What did you say was embedded in the wall?
Tony, who had been fully focused on the final assembly and had blocked out all external distractions, had no idea what had happened behind him.
All he wanted was to finish assembling the incendiary bomb as soon as possible and take a bunch of terrorists with him!
Just as he was about to complete the final step, he was kicked in the lower back and sent flying three meters away, in so much pain he couldn't even speak...
However, this was already the result of Lock Parker holding back.
Otherwise, Tony would have ended up like Ethan said—embedded in the wall like the iron gate.
Seeing that Tony and Ethan had calmed down after that physical interruption, Lock Parker walked up to them and extended his hand:
"Gentlemen, I really came to save you, so please don't be too agitated, lest I react violently and cause you to get hurt again, okay?"
Finally catching his breath, Tony smirked, "You came to rescue us? Why didn't you say so sooner...?"
Lock Parker shrugged. "I told you from the beginning, but that bald guy didn't believe me."
Upon hearing this, Tony looked at Ethan in surprise.
As if saying, "We're in this situation, why didn't you believe him?"
Ethan felt wronged and pointed at the hood on Lock Parker's face: "This isn't my fault! Who would dress like that, wearing a mask and covering their face like that...?"
Upon hearing this, Tony smiled and patted Ethan on the shoulder:
"Ethan, you're so out of touch. These days, superheroes are all the rage in America. Most of them are like this guy, hiding their faces and doing good deeds..."
Ethan was taken aback and asked in surprise, "So now it's not just terrorists and robbers wearing masks, but also superheroes?"
This was truly something new...
Seeing that the two were still chatting, Lock Parker couldn't help but interrupt:
"Alright, you two, we can chat in the car later. Let's get out of this damn place now, shall we?"
Tony and Ethan loved hearing this, so they immediately shut their mouths and nodded frantically.
Ethan, realizing he had misunderstood Lock Parker, no longer harbored hostility toward him. He grabbed Lock Parker's outstretched hand and used it to help himself stand up.
However, Tony didn't reach for Lock Parker's other hand. Instead, he endured the pain in his lower back and used the wall to support himself as he stood up.
After Tony stood up, he didn't forget to explain something to Lock Parker:
"Don't get me wrong, buddy, I don't have a problem with you. I just don't like interacting with strangers. It's a quirk, you know..."
In response, Lock Parker couldn't help but joke:
"Quirk? I imagine your dislike for interacting with people disappears automatically when you encounter a beautiful woman, and you might even want to have close contact with her, right?"
Tony didn't deny it but winked and said with a flippant smile, "Who doesn't?"
Women and alcohol were always the best tools for men to build closer relationships.
Therefore, after exchanging a few words about women, Tony's subconscious resistance toward Lock Parker lessened considerably, and he smiled:
"By the way, buddy, who sent you to rescue me, the military or Stark Industries?"
Lock Parker slowly shook his head: "No, it was your personal assistant, Ms. Pepper Potts. She entrusted me with all her savings to rescue you, you dissolute playboy..."
Upon hearing this, Tony was stunned and stood there for a long time, unable to recover.
He never imagined that, in the moment when he needed help the most, the one who would bring him light would not be the company he had painstakingly built, nor the military that had led him into this situation, but simply one of his personal assistants.
After a long silence, a genuine, warm smile finally appeared on Tony's lips:
"How foolish of you to spend your life savings on a man whose fate is unknown, Pepper..."
"But I won't let you waste this money. When I get back, I will definitely make it up to you tenfold or a hundredfold!"
Ten times, a hundred times?
That would be five hundred million or five billion.
Is there really such a good thing?
Hearing Tony's words, Lock Parker couldn't help but interject:
"Since you've brought up compensation for Ms. Pepper Potts, let me add that your net worth is far more than fifty million. When Ms. Pepper Potts commissioned me, she also said that if you were still alive, you would have to give me an additional fee."
Upon hearing this, Tony smiled confidently: "I'll give you five hundred million too!"
Lock Parker, hidden behind the mask, gasped.
Five hundred million?
Fifty million is just a target for me, but five hundred million means you're my boss!
