After leaving Neon Town, Ash and his group continued their journey. However, during this trip, Dragonite kept popping out of his Heavy Ball from time to time, asking Meowth to help check on Dragonair's condition. Ash didn't think there was anything wrong with Dragonite's behavior; if his own wife were pregnant, Ash could guarantee he'd wait until she gave birth before continuing any journey.
Stopping and going like this, Ash and the others took a break in a forest. After spotting a unique kind of berry, Ash immediately asked Pikachu and Meowth to accompany him to pick some, while little Eevee remained tucked safely inside Ash's jacket.
"Hmm... these throat-soothing berries could be juiced for the Whismur. It's super effective for improving their singing voices. Plus, this berry tastes really refreshing. Do you guys want to try it?"
Hearing Ash say this, Meowth, who had tasted the juice the Whismur drank, looked at the berry in surprise and took a bite.
"It really does taste like dat... just needs a bit of processing."
"Pika-pi!" (I could try eating it with ketchup.)
After tasting it, Pikachu thought it was decent and planned to pair it with his favorite ketchup. Meanwhile, the Eevee inside Ash's jacket poked her head out and took a bite of the berry right out of Ash's hand.
"Eevee!"
After one bite, little Eevee immediately let out a happy cry. Ash smiled and said, "Oh, do you really like it? Then wait a sec, I'll pick some more."
"Chansey..." (That little twerp...)
Seeing little Eevee acting all spoiled in Ash's arms, Chansey showed a look of displeasure. Seeing Chansey pout like this, Suzie could only say helplessly, "Chansey is still as jealous as ever, huh."
"Chansey!" (I'm not jealous!)
Looking at Ash's Chansey getting jealous over Eevee, Misty said with a smile, "It's so nice, the bond Ash shares with them."
"Jiggly!"
Just as Misty said that, a round, chubby Pokémon walked out, her eyes shining as she stared at the berry in Ash's hand.
"Jigglypuff!"
"Huh? Isn't this Jigglypuff? What's wrong, do you want to eat some too?"
Seeing Jigglypuff staring fixedly at the berry in his hand, Ash smiled, split the berry in half, and handed it to her.
"Puff!"
Seeing the berry Ash handed over, Jigglypuff happily took it and ate it all in one go. Then, she gave Ash a little bow, grabbed her marker-microphone, and actually started to sing.
"Jigglypuff~ Jiggly~ yyy~ puff~"
Accompanied by the song capable of putting anyone to sleep, Misty, Suzie, Lara, and Brock all fell fast asleep. However, Ash just looked at Jigglypuff with a smile. The same went for Meowth, Pikachu, and Chansey; they didn't fall asleep even when the song ended.
When Jigglypuff saw that Ash and his Pokémon hadn't fallen asleep, she happily jumped into Ash's arms. Ash smiled and said, "Wow, that sounded beautiful. But I wonder, Jigglypuff, would you be willing to do me a little favor?"
"Jiggly?"
Hearing Ash say this, Jigglypuff looked at him in confusion and then nodded.
"Attention all personnel! Put on your custom earplugs! We are about to start broadcasting Jigglypuff's song!"

Following this announcement, the staff of the Continental Hotel all put on their special earplugs. Meanwhile, Ash, Misty, Suzie, Lara, and Brock sat in VIP seats, getting ready to listen to a unique singer's performance.
"Ash, is this really okay?"
Misty didn't know what to say about Ash's upcoming plan. Should she say Ash was too bold? To actually broadcast Jigglypuff's song across the entire city to put everyone to sleep!
"Relax, our Continental Hotel has high standards. Starting now, we're going to give these restless Neon Town jerks a peaceful night's sleep!"
"And then what? Knowing you, you're definitely holding back some wicked idea, aren't you?"
Lara stared straight at Ash, as if she had already seen through his scheme. Ash didn't hide it and said directly, "Of course! After those guys fall asleep, I'm going to draw doodles and funny mustaches all over their faces! Because of the constant trouble in Neon Town, I've had to spend a lot of money assisting Officer Jenny and the police. Now it's time to make them pay the price! Begin!"
"Understood! Commencing!"
Soon after, Jigglypuff's singing echoed throughout the entire city. Under Jigglypuff's lullaby, countless people fell fast asleep. Since he had already informed Officer Jenny about his plan beforehand, traffic had long been controlled. Now, it was time to let these Neon Town night owls get a good sleep.
"I really didn't expect this crazy idea to actually work. Looks like it'd be good to do this again when we have time in the future."
Officer Jenny breathed a sigh of relief as she looked at the people who had already fallen asleep. This should make things much easier for her.
"He's got so many crazy ideas. It looks like Lan's future life is going to be a lot more interesting."
The "Lan" that the Neon Town Jenny mentioned was exactly Officer Jenny Lan from Viridian City, and she was the marriage partner the Jenny family had prepared for Ash. After all, Ash and Jenny Lan had the best relationship. There was no issue with having her as the marriage candidate. Of course, Jenny Lan herself didn't know about this yet.
As for the marriage partner the Joy family had prepared for Ash... Ash had actually already met her. It was the Pokémon Inspector Joy. And this Joy was not to be underestimated.
"You call yourselves working hard to become an official Gym looking like this? You're simply too weak! Latias, use Dragon Pulse!"
"Latias!"
With a Dragon Pulse from the Legendary Pokémon Latias, Kaz's Electabuzz and Yas's Scyther were directly taken out in one move. Kaz and Yas could only tremble as they looked at this Joy, who had suddenly become incredibly dominant after Ash left.
"U-umm, Inspector, we..."
"You're still far from it. With your current strength, you're completely unqualified to run a Gym. Train for another period of time and we'll talk!"
"Yes ma'am!!!"
Looking at this Joy, Kaz and Yas decided that if anyone ever said Nurse Joys were sweet and gentle again, they would absolutely beat their brains out!
Watching the Dark City leaders flee in panic, Inspector Joy sighed and muttered to herself, "Honestly, why can't I ever be this assertive when facing Ash? And the family actually made me the marriage representative..."
"Tias!"
Latias flew to Joy's side and gave her a confused look. Joy smiled and said, "It's nothing, just thinking about some things. Thanks for the hard work, Latias."
After recalling Latias into her Poké Ball, Joy silently wrote in her small notebook: "Pewter City Gym Leader Brock is severely lecherous, needs re-evaluation of qualifications!"
