"Alright, prep is done. I'm just about ready to head out. What about you, Lara?"
"Wait a moment, I need to wash up."
Hearing Lara say this, Ash's eyes lit up. He smiled and asked, "Need any help?"
Bang!
The sound of the bathroom door slamming shut was his only answer.
Because the average person in Neon Town was so short-tempered, Ash and the gang didn't go out to explore after arriving at the hotel. Since the hotel had everything anyway, going out ran the risk of getting caught up in trouble caused by irritable locals.
And when it was time to sleep, Ash shared a room with Lara. After all, holding certain things in is really uncomfortable. Of course, a certain Gardevoir spent half the night scratching at the walls in frustration.
Knock knock knock!
"Lucky!"
Hearing Chansey's knock, Ash opened the door. The first one to dart inside wasn't Chansey, Pikachu, or Meowth, but little Eevee.
"Eievui!" A well-rested Eevee jumped into Ash's arms, looking completely at ease. Chansey, however, glared at Eevee, thoroughly displeased.
"Lucky!" (You sure know how to find a good spot!)
Saying this, Chansey deliberately darkened her expression, terrifying Eevee so much it immediately scrambled up to Ash's shoulder. Ash could only helplessly pat Chansey's head.
"Alright now, you're not a baby anymore. Stop scaring the kid."
"Lucky!" (No! I AM a baby!)
"Pika pi..." (Yep, getting jealous first thing in the morning...)
"Oh my, getting jealous first thing in the morning? Chansey, you're still too young. A truly pampered baby wouldn't cause trouble for their parents."
While Chansey was acting spoiled with Ash, Pikachu, Meowth, and the rest of Ash's Pokémon filed into the room. They were already used to a giant Chansey acting like a baby.
"Morning, everyone. We'll rest a bit more and then hit the road. The people in Neon Town have way too much hostility. Even if we wanted to tour the place, it'd be pointless."
Squirtle, who had followed them in, saw Eevee monopolizing Ash's shoulder and immediately jumped onto his other shoulder. Seeing Squirtle acting like a child, Ash could only laugh, "Seriously. Are you all just a bunch of kids?"
"Ash, help me with my hair!"
Lara's voice drifted from the bathroom. Ash instantly looked fully energized. Squirtle and Eevee obediently hopped off his shoulders.
"Coming!"
Watching Ash go, Meowth said to Pikachu next to him, "Man, the Boss really has it made..."
"Pika pi..." (My Chuchu... I gotta wait till we get to Johto...)
"Gardevoir!" (I want darling to do my hair too!)
Hearing Gardevoir say this, Ash's other Pokémon exchanged helpless glances. They knew all too well about Gardevoir's little obsession.
"Awooo!" (Little girl, do you want to marry your trainer?)
Dragonite, who had just finished discussing with Dragonair the best way to raise a Dratini, glanced at Gardevoir and asked a question with absolute certainty. Gardevoir nodded.
"Gardevoir!" (Yes, senior! But there's the species gap between darling and me...)
"Awooo!" (Hah, it's fine! It's not like it hasn't happened before. I'm telling you, kiddo, the only thing you need to do right now is hold steady! Wait for the perfect opportunity and take him in one fell swoop!)
"..."
Ash's Pokémon were utterly speechless listening to the Dragonite, this old pervert. Don't think they didn't notice how close he and Dragonair had gotten lately!
But Gardevoir's eyes lit up upon hearing the Dragonite's words.
"Gardevoir?" (Is that really okay, senior?)
"Awooo!" (Hah! You young ones don't know this, but back in ancient times, this kind of thing was incredibly common! Of course, Jynx might be pushing it... their aesthetics are a bit too far from humans...)
"Gardevoir?" (What about me?)
Seeing Gardevoir looking so anxious, this shameless old Dragonite actually gave a thumbs up and said, "Awooo!" (Absolutely no problem!)
"Gardevoir!" (Thank you so much, senior!)
While Gardevoir and the perverted old Dragonite were plotting how to claim her trainer, Ash—the target of this impending romantic calamity—remained completely oblivious. Right now, he was happily styling Lara's hair.
"Ash, seems like everyone's having a fun chat out there."
Hearing the constant chatter of Ash's Pokémon outside the bathroom, Lara, completely unaware of how scandalous their conversation was, assumed they were just getting along well. Ash, tying her braids, smiled and said:
"Yeah, they really do get along great. It puts my mind at ease."
"Even though I knew you two were close, I didn't expect you to be this close. Dragonite, Dragonair is pregnant, and this is your doing, isn't it?"
As Ash removed the stethoscope from Dragonair, he looked helplessly at the Dragonite standing off to the side, who looked utterly bewildered. The Dragonite was completely dumbfounded—meaning, it only took a few times and she was already pregnant?
"Meow... so you're a creature of action..." Though Meowth knew this perverted old Dragonite would make a move, he didn't expect it to be this fast.
Pikachu just facepalmed helplessly, really having no words for this "senior."
"Alright, Ash. This is a wonderful thing! All we need to do now is congratulate them." Nurse Joy, whom Ash had called over to help, was quite happy about the creation of new life; after all, every new life deserved respect.
To sum up the current situation... it was simple. Early in the morning, Dragonair wasn't feeling well for some unknown reason. Because of this, Ash specifically called Nurse Joy over to take a look. And what a look it was—they discovered Dragonair was actually pregnant, and already a week or two along!
So, it went without saying who the father was. The only one capable of laying his claws on Dragonair was this particular, "respectable" senior.
"Well... since Dragonair is pregnant, it's not really appropriate for her to keep traveling with us. I'll get in touch with Professor Oak."
For the sake of Dragonair's health, Ash truly couldn't take her along on the journey anymore. What she needed right now was absolute rest and recuperation.
"Awooo!" (This works out well. The environment at the mountain behind your house is fantastic... plus, having your subordinate Pokémon help train the Dratinis wouldn't be a bad idea.)
After his initial shock, the Dragonite had also snapped back to reality. Anyway, wasn't it just having kids in his old age? It just proved he was still young and full of vigor!
With this thought in mind, the Dragonite's mood improved significantly.
