"Mooooo!!!" xN
Since this morning, the Tauros at Tomo's house hadn't stopped their tragic cries. Regarding this situation, Tomo's parents just took a brief glance and ignored it. When they saw Tomo's ribbon on Ash's shoulder, they already understood the situation. Since that was the case, it was a good opportunity to let Ash help manage the Tauros.
"Next! Who else wants to disobey?"
Scyther swung its scythes, its sharp gaze piercing the Tauros. Under the dual intimidating glares of Ash and Scyther, the Tauros obediently submitted.
Standing on the sidelines, Brock finally understood what Ash meant by 'who's the boss'. Ash took his Scyther and single-handedly challenged Tomo's Tauros to establish absolute dominance.
"Scy!" (Too weak!)
"Good job, Scyther. Just wait a little longer, I'll have you evolve very soon."
While speaking, Ash carefully wiped Scyther's scythes. Hearing Ash mention evolution, Scyther nodded. Although it could evolve without relying on a Metal Coat, using a high-quality Metal Coat for evolution yielded vastly different results than not using one. As one of Ash's oldest buddies, Ash naturally wanted to give it the very best.
Therefore, Ash could only hope that the people who accepted his commission could find a high-quality natural Metal Coat. After all, compared to artificial items, natural materials were much better at helping his Pokémon. To this end, Ash even had the Continental Hotel post a standing bounty of 10 million Pokémon Dollar to acquire special natural items.
However, it wasn't that Ash wasn't trying hard enough, but natural, high-quality special items were genuinely hard to find. The best Giovanni's Team Rocket could procure were artificial ones. Steven might be able to find some while digging for stones, but the material quality wasn't good enough. However, Ash had recently heard that there was a place with a natural Metal Coat, potentially even of the highest tier. So, Ash had already put the word out within the Continental Hotel: anyone in the branch that secured it for him would get Rare Candies and a huge cash bonus. In any case, a group of Continental Hotel staff led by Hunter J was aggressively charging toward that location as they spoke.
Right at this moment, a flock of Dodrio ran past. Riding on the leading Dodrio was a young man. Seeing this guy, both Ash's Scyther and Ponyta assumed battle stances.
"I was wondering who it was. If it isn't Ash? Only a guy like you would bring a Scyther to beat up a herd of Tauros."
"Dario, what's wrong? Are you looking for a fight?"
Looking at Ash's Scyther and Ponyta, Dario took a half step back; he knew full well the combat power of these two Pokémon.
"Tch, I'm not a violent freak like you. I was just wondering who was capable of... Oh, I see. No wonder you're the one here today."
Seeing the two ribbons on Ash's arm, Dario understood the situation.
"Hmph. I have to say, you three violent freaks actually suit each other pretty well."
"Thanks. I think so too. We have the look of a married couple."
"I wasn't praising you! In this year's race, just watch how I crush them!"
Hearing Dario say this, Ash smiled, patted his Ponyta, and said, "Heh, sorry to burst your bubble. This year's race... I'll be the one competing! Me and my Ponyta will show you what true skill is."
"Neigh!"
Looking at Ash's Ponyta, Dario almost laughed out loud.
"Hahaha! With that off-colored Ponyta of yours? It clearly looks malnourished! Alright, I'm not wasting any more time with you! Let's go!"
Leaving behind a trail of dust, Dario rode off on his Dodrio. Watching the direction Dario left in, Ash clicked his tongue and comforted Ponyta, "It's fine, Ponyta. Although your flames are a bit pale, the temperature is absolutely hot enough. They just don't know how to appreciate it."
The color of Ash's Ponyta's flames was indeed quite pale, just as Dario had said. Even after Ash used many methods, he couldn't change it. However, Ash didn't care about that at all. As long as his Ponyta was strong enough, the color of its flames wasn't that important.
"Neigh!"
Ponyta nuzzled against Ash. It used to be ostracized by its herd because of its color, until Ash took it in. Now, it had become the strongest fighter among Ponytas. It knew, of course, that Ash didn't care about these things, but it couldn't stand others belittling Ash because of its flame color. It knew Ash had been using medicated diets to help it improve all along, and it wouldn't allow anyone to slander him.

"You over there! Didn't you see the sign saying you can't just casually eat my herbs?!"
"Rattata!!!" xN
Watching the little Rattatas scatter and flee, Ash helplessly shook his head. These Rattatas sure knew how to pick them—actually eyeing his medicinal herbs.
Just then, a giant Raticate bounded over, carrying some berries which it handed to Ash.
"I say, Raticate. You should know how precious my herbs are. It's not that I won't let you guys eat them, but many of those are used to save lives. The medicine I used to treat you back in the day was made from these herbs."
"Raticate..." (I'm sorry.)
"Meow. To be honest, Raticate, you really need to discipline your subordinates. The Boss's temper is already good enough as it is."
Meowth looked at Raticate with some helplessness. He knew Raticate's clan was huge and hard to manage, and there were always newly born Rattatas sneaking in to steal food.
"Raticate. Raticate, rati-cate." (I can't help it. Our Raticate clan breeds very fast. Once the little Rattatas grow up a bit, they follow the scent here. I've scolded them countless times.)
After hearing Meowth's translation, Ash sighed helplessly. "Then I'll just have to add some extra security measures."
(Sorry for the trouble)
"Forget it. Just help protect Tomo and the others when the time comes."
"Raticate!" (Don't worry. Our fangs won't let you down.)
