The trolley screeched to a halt in front of a massive, ancient vault door etched with elegant carvings of the Potter crest. Griphook stepped off the platform and turned to Harry with a grave nod. "Here we are — Vault 687. The Potter family vault."
Harry blinked, stepping forward. "The Potters actually have a family vault?"
Griphook chuckled softly as he walked toward the towering structure. "Of course the Potters have a family vault."
Harry, Raven, and Claire followed as Griphook produced a key and inserted it into the lock. With a heavy metallic groan, the massive stone and iron door began to creak open, dust shaking from its hinges. Inside, the vault was a glowing trove of riches and history: piles of gold Galleons, silver Sickles, and bronze Knuts were stacked beside shelves of ancient relics, magical scrolls, and heirloom artifacts.
Claire covered her mouth, eyes wide. "Oh my… Harry… you're so wealthy…"
Harry took a step back, shaking his head. "No, I'm an orphan. How can my parents be so wealthy?"
Raven turned to Griphook. "Can you tell us more about Harry's parents?"
Griphook gave a respectful nod. "Happily, Mrs. Cross. Lily and James Potter come from one of the most prestigious and oldest wizarding families in the entire world — the Potter family lineage."
Claire listened in stunned silence as Griphook continued. "While Lily herself was Muggle-born, James Potter comes from the Potter family — one of the Sacred Twenty-Eight noble bloodlines of England. James's father, Fleamont Potter, was the inventor of Sleekeazy's Hair Potion, which contributed significantly to the fortune housed within Vault 687."
He gestured to the shelves. "The Potter lineage dates back to Linfred of Stinchcombe, a 12th-century wizard renowned for crafting healing potions and remedies he sold to Muggles under the guise of natural medicine. This not only made him rich, but several of his concoctions — including Skele-Gro and Pepperup Potion — are still sold in wizarding apothecaries today."
Griphook bowed his head respectfully. "Your grandfather and your distant ancestor, Harry, each changed the world in their own way. You come from a long line of genius and nobility."
Harry furrowed his brow and asked, "If my parents were so prestigious and wealthy, how come I grew up as an orphan living with the Dursleys?"
Raven sighed. "That was all because of Dumbledore. He is a man with good intentions, Harry… but he didn't think through your placement. You should have been raised among your people, in the wizarding world, with tutors and magical training. Instead, Dumbledore made a mistake that cost you years of growth and safety."
She stepped forward and placed a hand on his shoulder. "But don't worry. I'm here now. I'll help guide you on the path you should have always had — to become a powerful wizard."
Harry looked at her sideways. "How are you going to guide me? You're only eleven too."
Raven let out a dry laugh. "I've got other responsibilities besides hanging out with you, Harry. Why do you think I disappear all the time for?"
He scratched his head. "I thought you were just hiding."
Around Raven's neck, the green snake Medusa lifted her head with narrowed eyes. "Don't be foolish, Harry Potter. Raven has important things to attend to."
Raven glanced at him knowingly. "You heard Medusa. I have important things to do."
"Uh-huh…" Harry said, still trying to make sense of it all.
Raven nodded toward the vault. "Well? Go get some gold. We need your Galleons to buy your supplies. Unless you want me to pay for everything myself."
Harry looked at her cautiously. "I'm kind of scared about how wealthy you are if they treat you this well in a bank."
She laughed again, her voice echoing slightly in the chamber. "You would be surprised. This is the only place I will be treated with this much respect."
Griphook quickly stepped forward. "Oh no, Mrs. Cross. You would be treated with respect everywhere… if you announced yourself."
Raven's voice dropped to a serious tone. "There's no need to spread news of my arrival."
Griphook bowed. "As you wish."
He handed Harry a small velvet pouch. The boy hesitated, then began scooping Galleons into it.
Raven nodded once. "All right. We have what we came for. Harry, let's leave Gringotts."
Griphook watched them begin to walk away and spoke quickly, "Is there anything else you require, Mrs. Cross?"
Raven glanced over her shoulder. "No. You did excellent. I'll be sure to let Bubbles know how well you performed."
Griphook trembled slightly, his hands twitching. "Thank you!"
They stepped back onto the trolley, and the cart shot through the tunnels again. Claire clung to the edge of the seat, her eyes wide from the speed, while Harry clutched his pouch tightly.
Once they returned to the main lobby, the trio stepped off the platform and exited Gringotts into the morning sunlight.
Griphook stood frozen, watching them walk away. Then, with a sudden shout, he dashed off down the corridor, yelling, "I'm going to be promoted! I can't wait to tell the other goblins! They're going to be so jealous!"
