Claire looked sideways at Raven as they walked through the arched marble halls of Gringotts and said, "Raven, how much trouble have you been causing behind my back when I'm not around?"
Raven scratched the back of her head, eyes tilting upward with forced innocence. "Come on, Claire, you know I've been behaving myself."
"Mmhmm," Claire replied, clearly unconvinced. "I'm sure you've been causing all kinds of mischief behind my back. Just make sure you stay safe, okay, whatever you've been doing."
Raven let out a light laugh. "I'm always safe, okay?"
Harry looked up at the goblin beside them with quiet curiosity. Raven placed a hand gently on his shoulder and said, "This is Harry Potter."
Griphook's eyes widened in awe. His hands trembled slightly as he looked down at Harry and said, "You are the child who lived."
Harry blinked. "Pardon me… what does that mean?"
"There's no need for him to be aware of that right now," Raven said calmly. "We're here to claim the vault belonging to Lily and James Potter."
Griphook paused and reached into his cloak, pretending to check something on an old folded paper. "Let me check my notes… let's see… ah, here. Yes. Lily and James Potter. That's correct."
Griphook bowed slightly and continued saying. "Of course. Harry Potter's vault, so he may claim the assets left behind by his parents."
Harry's voice was low, almost hesitant. "My parents came from the wizarding world?"
Raven laughed warmly. "I told you your parents were special. Yes, they came from the wizarding world, and they left you a vast fortune to help you with your expenses at Hogwarts."
Griphook nodded. "Normally we would require identity verification, such as blood testing, to confirm Harry Potter's lineage. But because you are here, Mrs. Cross, that will not be necessary."
"Excellent," Raven replied. "Let's get this over with. Lead us to Harry's vault."
She turned to Claire and added, "Claire, why don't you come with us? You will find this entertaining."
Griphook hesitated for only a moment before saying, "Normally Muggles are not allowed into the inner vaults. But for you, Mrs. Cross, it is not a problem."
Raven offered a faint smile. "Excellent. I'm glad you're willing to make some compromises."
"There is no problem for a member of the esteemed Cross Lineage," Griphook said, still trembling faintly.
Claire looked at Raven with open curiosity. "Raven, why is he so deferential to you?"
"I'll explain it later, Claire. This isn't the place."
Claire gave a cautious nod. "All right."
Griphook led them toward's the trolley system embedded in a deep tunnel that sloped downward at a terrifying angle. He gestured to the polished cart. "We are heading to Vault 687, Mr. Potter—your parents' vault. They left you quite a substantial inheritance before their untimely demise."
Harry climbed into the trolley, settling beside Raven. As the cart began to roll forward, gathering speed down the winding tunnel, he turned and looked at her. "We're kind of alone now. Can you tell me what happened to my parents?"
Raven's voice softened as she exhaled. "Your parents, Harry, died defending you against a dark wizard — a being who wields extremely chaotic and evil magic. His name was Lord Voldemort. He tried to kill your parents because they resisted his rule and challenged his reign."
She continued, tone grave and slow. "When he cast a killing curse on them, their love for you caused it to rebound. Even though they died, the curse was turned back on him and destroyed him instead."
Harry's lips trembled as tears welled in his eyes. "My parents died protecting me from an evil wizard…"
"That's right," Raven said. "There is no braver way for parents to die than defending their child. You should be proud of Lily and James Potter."
Harry began to cry, his shoulders quivering. Claire leaned forward immediately and wrapped her arms around him, holding him close. "Harry, I'm so sorry. I thought your parents died in a car accident."
"I knew the Dursleys were lying…" Harry sobbed, burying his face into her shoulder.
Raven's expression darkened as she added, "Lily Potter was Petunia's sister. Dumbledore placed you with the Dursleys after her death — never knowing how badly you would be treated. But now they are paying for it."
Harry continued to cry in Claire's arms, and Raven leaned in gently, hugging him from the other side. "It's okay, buddy. Everything's going to be fine."
Harry opened his mouth to speak again, but Raven pressed a finger softly against his lips. "No. You cannot say his name. It's cursed. If you do, his followers will know where you are."
Harry looked up with red eyes. "Then how can you say it?"
"The curse doesn't work on me," Raven answered simply. "But you should call him He Who Must Not Be Named."
Harry nodded slowly.
Raven turned to Claire next. "Claire, you must never say that name. Ever."
Claire looked rattled but nodded quickly. "I understand."
"It's life-threatening," Raven added. "It would endanger every child in the orphanage."
Claire's voice was low and shaken. "I won't say it."
"Ah," Griphook said ahead of them. "We have arrived at your vault, Mr. Potter."
