The metallic staircase echoed loudly as Emily, Alexander, and Daniel rushed downward into the glowing depths of the chasm.
Gunshots rang above them.

Alexander kept one hand firmly around Emily's wrist as they descended deeper into the underground structure.
The golden light grew brighter the further they went.

They stepped onto a wide steel platform that overlooked a massive underground facility.
Emily stopped in shock.
The laboratory beneath the valley was enormous.
Rows of towering machines filled the chamber. Large glass tubes lined the walls, many of them empty, while others contained strange glowing liquids.
Massive screens flickered with old data.
Dust covered most of the equipment, showing it had been abandoned for years.
