The wind roared across the cliff as the helicopters circled above the valley.
Floodlights from the Knight family's aircraft swept across the forest like searching eyes.
Emily stood at the edge of the glowing chasm, her heart pounding wildly.
Below her, the golden light pulsed like a living thing.
It was calling her.
Alexander grabbed her wrist before she could move closer.
"Emily," he said firmly. "We don't even know what's down there."
She looked at him.
"I think I do."
Alexander frowned.
"How?"
Emily placed a hand over her chest.
"Because I can feel it."
Another pulse of golden energy shot upward from the chasm, sending a wave of warmth through the air.
Small rocks lifted from the ground again, floating around her.
Daniel stared with wide eyes.
"Yep… that's definitely not normal."
Above them, one of the helicopters lowered slightly.
A powerful spotlight suddenly locked onto their position.
Alexander cursed quietly.
"They've found us."
