Chapter 61 - Chapter 15: The Morning After

I woke in my bed at The Crossing, sunlight streaming through the windows.

Davina was beside me, sleeping peacefully. Hope was in the next room, dreaming of futures I could now see clearly—branching paths, all of them bright.

I slipped out of bed and walked to the roof.

The Quarter spread before me, scarred but standing, damaged but alive. People were already in the streets—humans and supernaturals alike, cleaning up, rebuilding, moving forward.

Oracle was waiting on the roof.

"You did it," she said. "The impossible. Balance."

"I had help."

"You always did. You just didn't always accept it."

I leaned against the railing, watching the sunrise paint the city gold.

"What happens now?"

"Whatever you want. You've earned that." Oracle smiled. "The Collective will return eventually. Other threats will emerge. But for now—for this moment—there's peace."

"And me? What am I now?"

"You're Paradox. Dimensional being. Protector of New Orleans. Friend, mentor, something like family to a girl who's going to change the world." She stepped closer. "You're what you always could have been, if you'd let yourself care."

I laughed—soft, genuine.

"You make it sound simple."

"Nothing's simple. But some things are worth the complexity."

She vanished as the sun cleared the horizon.

I stayed on the roof for a long time, watching the city wake, feeling the connections that bound me to this reality.

Stage 5. Complete.

Thirteen thousand realities, and I'd finally found a home.
