With a sharp jerk, Celine managed to break free. The rope, which hadn't yet been tied in a tight knot, came loose and fell lifelessly to the floor.
Ignoring the excruciating pain behind her ribcage, Celine ran as fast as she could. Her legs, trembling violently, pounded the floor, closing the distance between them before the masked men could even register her movement.
THUD!
Celine collapsed right beside Mark's already stiff body. Her tears poured out uncontrollably, streaming down her deathly pale cheeks. Her two hands, trembling uncontrollably, kept shaking Mark's body, hoping to bring him back to consciousness.
"Mark… wake up, Mark! Please, don't let this happen!" Celine sobbed hoarsely.
"Why did you have to do this, Mark? Why?!" Celine wailed, her chest heaving erratically. "I hate you… I hate you so much for all your lies! You're an idiot! You're such an idiot, Mark! Answer me, Mark! Wake up!"
