Chapter 114 - The End of a Rage

Mark lowered his cell phone from his ear, his gaze vacant. The shock of the news suddenly felt ordinary to his heart, which had already gone numb.

All the memories of how cruel Beatrice had been in the past had completely eroded the sadness within Mark, leaving a void that made him unsure of how to respond to his own mother's passing.

The man then let out a long breath, as if releasing some invisible weight that had been pressing down on his chest. He glanced around the noisy train station, realizing that fate had once again tied his feet to this city, forcing him to stay a little longer.

Mark pressed his cell phone to his ear again, steadying his hoarse voice to answer the officer on the other end.

"All right, I'll be there as soon as possible," Mark said in a flat tone before hanging up the phone.
