Luan stood up, straightening his dirty clothes as he panted heavily. He froze when he saw blood beginning to seep from Mark's sleeve. For a moment, Luan's defenses crumbled slightly and his resolve began to waver, thinking that Mark might truly have become a different person for his younger sister's sake.
However, Luan quickly shook his head and dismissed that foolish thought. He refused to show weakness and once again fixed Mark with a cold stare.
"Don't expect this belated heroic act of yours to erase all your past sins," Luan snapped, turning his face away from Mark's wound.
Luan felt too proud to admit that she had finally relented and allowed Mark to cook for Celine after that rescue. So she masked that decision with a very stern and curt demeanor.
"Tomorrow night, come to the Sterling Tower restaurant downtown. I'll clear out the main kitchen for you for two hours," Luan said sternly, finally giving his indirect permission.
