A faint smile touched his eyes. "I know enough."
Kaira shut her eyes briefly and lifted her hand, gently taking his and lowering it from her face.
They sat there in silence after that, the kind that was not entirely comfortable, yet not unbearable either. The breeze moved around them, the water shifting quietly at the edge of the shore, as though the world had decided to give them a moment to breathe.
Time passed. She did not know how long. Then he spoke.
"I did not know you had a grown up child."
Kaira glanced at him, slightly confused. "What does that mean?"
Finn let out a quiet breath, almost amused, rubbing the back of his neck briefly. "It means… when I first saw you at the ball, I thought you were one of the maidens."
Kaira blinked at him. "You what?"
A faint smile tugged at his lips, more open now. "You did not look like someone with a grown daughter. You still do not. I mean at all."
