She had turned him down - which was unlike her.
Given their animosity towards each other, it wouldn't be odd for her to refuse out of spite.
But the Everetta he had come to know was bigger than such childish motives.
There had to be another reason.
And then he overheard Gerald telling the Duke about how bad he felt that he had not insisted that his daughter take ice-skating lessons.
It had dawned on him then…
She didn't know how to dance…
And given that she never danced once and yet had been so graceful in Friedrich's arm the night of their engagement ball, experience was hardly the problem.
The skill itself was what was lacking.
And that meant she didn't have ice skates herself.
But, then again, why did he want to dance with her so much?
Was it because it was the last time he could fill her dancing card? Was he trying to make up for a past that had been built on a silly misunderstanding?
