"You are more talented than the two of us, with stronger abilities. Your creations are highly sought after throughout Piltover. Even the missions of gods, you scoff at, creating your own artificial mechanical life!"
"Me?"
Duke looked indifferent, patted Jayce on the shoulder, and said, "Some people are different from ordinary people from the very beginning, Jayce!"
"For example, you and Viktor compared to others, and for example, me compared to you all!"
"What am I thinking?"
Duke looked at the arrogant figure waiting at the door, a hint of warmth in his eyes.
"The World is so big, I want to see it!"
"To see Noxus's Immortal Bastion, to see Demacia's Anti-Magic Stone Forest, to see Freljord's Eternal Frost, to experience the nature spirits of the First Land, to climb Targon, to feel the power of the Giant God, to cross Shurima, to find the secrets buried under the sands!"
"This is my pursuit; I want to see this World!"
Duke sat on the workbench, spreading his hands: "To be cooped up in one place for a lifetime, it's just too suffocating!"
Noticing the expression on Jayce's face, Duke glanced at the pedestals on both sides, "Alright, enough about that. Go get something to eat. After we eat and rest a bit, we'll start the first experiment."
"Okay, I'll go prepare."
Jayce went to prepare food, and Duke looked at the rune pedestals, then at the sleeping Viktor, and very simply took the opportunity to rest.
A few hours later, he woke Viktor, and the three of them had lunch together before starting the first experiment.
"Prepare to activate the energy!"
Duke put on his Edith sunglasses, standing at the door, watching the two rune pedestals. He needed to observe and record the experimental process. Jayce and Viktor, wearing goggles, glanced at Duke, who was wearing sunglasses, then at each other, and said nothing more.
Considering the strong light that would erupt, they all wore goggles, but Duke said his sunglasses were even better than goggles.
This was simply ridiculous!
Jayce, who had turned on the switch, slowly rotated the knob. The Hextech Gem floated up, continuously spinning and releasing energy. The emitted energy pushed the rune sets to rotate...
Before long, the two rune pedestals were activated, and dazzling blue light burst outwards. Duke's Edith sunglasses continuously observed, displaying the energy's direction in Duke's eyes.
"The energy is not yet enough to reach resonance level, increase it!"
Duke said in a deep voice, telling Jayce and the others to increase the energy output. Jayce began to increase the energy without hesitation. Two brilliant lights extended from the rune pedestals, approaching each other.
When the two energy beams touched, an even more terrifying strong light suddenly erupted. The strong light shot up into the sky, piercing through the ceiling of the experiment workshop and soaring into the clouds.
"Cut off the energy pathway, cut it off immediately!"
Viktor decisively pressed the stop button. The energy was instantly cut off, and the Hextech Gems on the rune pedestals fell onto the pedestals' supports.
The energy aftershock turned into electric light flickering in the void, and documents from the second floor floated throughout the workshop.
The first experiment failed!
"It failed. They did produce resonance, but the result was different from what we expected." Viktor took off his goggles. Jayce's face showed contemplation. Duke pushed his sunglasses, "I know what to do. Bring two crystals of the same volume!"
"What do you want to do?"
Jayce looked at Duke, who didn't elaborate, "Just go get them!"
"Alright!"
Jayce and Viktor went to find the crystals. When the crystals were brought, Duke opened Edith's video playback function and projected the recent experiment process onto the wall.
Duke pointed at the converging energy in the projection: "We successfully made the gem energy resonate, but we took the wrong path. The resonant energy of the two gems should be staggered to potentially open the energy pathway!"
Jayce and Viktor glanced at the sunglasses on Duke's face that could project images, then looked at the goggles in their hands, and promptly stuffed their goggles into their pockets.
Just how many good things does Duke have?!
Duke began to polish the crystal, cutting it into identical geometric shapes.
"Now I'm going to try something new: by artificially creating crystals with regular geometric shapes, I'll search for the resonant Hextech 5.0 energy frequency."
Duke, who had installed the crystal onto the Runeterra base, offered no further explanation and instead resumed his experiment.
This time, the Hextech energy passed through the cut crystal, its energy dispersed, and two beams of light diverged, reaching the crystal at the other end.
At the same moment, each crystal reflected the image of the opposite side.
"Did it succeed?"
Viktor looked at the crystal in front of him; he, along with the wall behind him, appeared on the crystal at the other end. Seeing this, Duke recalled the topic his original body had researched, hurried to the other end, and looked at the crystal in front of him.
At the same time, Duke's figure appeared on Viktor's crystal.
"What's going on?"
"The crystal outside the Hextech Gem actually reflects both of your images!"
Jayce was somewhat surprised, but Duke smacked his lips: "One good news, one bad news, which one do you want to hear?"
"The bad one first!"
"We failed again!"
"And the good one?"
"We unintentionally created a Hextech Communicator that can synchronize sound and images and allow for real-time communication!"
