"Alright, next I need to go to Jayce's place!"
Duke, who had re-mounted his motorcycle, patted Arrogance. Arrogance's front wheel turned, the engine started on its own, and it sped away towards Jayce's experimental workshop.
The experimental workshop, located on the outskirts of Piltover, was specifically chosen there to account for the possibility of experimental errors. Before this, it was just an old shipyard, which Jayce had bought and converted into a laboratory.
Outside the experimental workshop, high walls stood tall, guarded by security personnel. The Ferros Family, through their supported Councilor Mel, had invested significant resources into Jayce's research.
The Hextech artificial Gem technology, which they had researched for decades, was accidentally discovered by Jayce. Therefore, they decided to let him continue his Hextech Gem research.
Duke arrived at the entrance and announced his identity. The iron gate slowly opened inwards, and Jayce and Viktor stood at the doorway to greet him.
"Welcome, Duke!"
"You look well, Jayce!"
After getting out of the car, Duke walked towards Jayce. Arrogance, who had transformed into his human form, obediently followed behind Duke. Noticing Arrogance, Jayce shifted his steps, letting Duke pass.
"Is this the artificial mechanical life Viktor mentioned you created?"
"Sort of. I took a slight shortcut, and you're both aware of my magical talent!"
Jayce and Viktor nodded perfunctorily; their eyes were fixed solely on Arrogance. For scientific researchers, what could be more captivating than a living silicon-based life form standing before them?
"Alright, stop staring at him. He's still young, and if he gets angry, he'll punch you to death!"
Duke ignored the two and strode into the laboratory. Jayce followed behind Duke, excitedly saying, "Can I study your creation, Duke?"
Duke paused, turning his head slightly, his eyes incredibly dangerous.
"Jayce, I hope I never hear that again. Although he is my creation, he is also my son!"
"This is a one-time thing, don't let it happen again!"
"...Okay."
Jayce gave an embarrassed laugh, and Viktor quickly interjected, "Alright, let's not talk about that. Let's look at our research first!"
The three men and one dragon entered the laboratory. Jayce's laboratory had a double-ring structure; the first floor was used for research, and the second floor for archiving data and writing reports.
"We are currently planning to further explore the future prospects of Hextech, but we still haven't found any clues. After all, the energy of the Hextech Gem can only be guided through rune sets, and it's very unstable."
Viktor leaned on his cane. Duke walked to their workbench, looking at the re-forged rune base, and fiddled with the rotatable rune set.
"Currently, our only method for controlling the Hextech Gem's energy is through runes. Besides that, we haven't thought of any other methods."
Jayce also spoke up at the appropriate moment. Duke picked up Jayce's notebook and gave him an inquiring look: "May I?"
"Of course! Since you're participating in the research, you can naturally consult my notes!"
Jayce puffed out his chest. Duke, who already had a copy of his notes, pretended to flip through them for a while before placing the notebook on the table.
"Have you tried the topic of resonance between Hextech Gems and the mutual attraction between strong magic sources?"
"We haven't tried that yet..." Jayce scratched his head. They had been focused on how to utilize the Hextech Gem's energy, and deeper questions had not yet been explored.
"The reason your experimental demonstration failed during the last evaluation was due to the influence of a strong magic source on-site. Magic of the same nature will influence and resonate with each other!"
"That's also why your rune base turned into a weapon!"
