Chapter 14
The underground temple groaned and trembled. Dust filled the air. Every pillar, every stone seemed alive with energy.
The blue crystal pulsed violently, sending arcs of energy shooting in every direction. The temple's energy was unstable, more than anyone had ever seen.
Ran grabbed Mariya's hand. "We have to move! The whole temple is collapsing!"
Mariya nodded, her eyes glowing with the residual power of the crystal. "But the Guardian… it's still holding parts of the chamber!"
Victor lay defeated, but the dark energy he had unleashed had left chaos. The underground energy core was surging uncontrollably, threatening to rip the entire structure apart.
The Guardian's eyes flared with deep blue light. It stomped the ground, and the vibrations were so strong that huge cracks appeared around the chamber.
Pillars started toppling one by one. Stones crashed to the floor like meteors. Dust clouded the air, and the ceiling threatened to collapse at any moment.
Ran and Mariya formed a shield of blue energy, but the waves of falling debris and energy blasts were too strong. The Guardian stepped forward, placing its massive fists on the ground. Energy waves rippled outward, protecting them temporarily.
The temple shook violently. A massive pillar fell directly toward them. Ran pulled Mariya aside, rolling just in time to avoid being crushed.
"This is insane!" Mariya shouted. "We can't hold it much longer!"
"I know," Ran yelled back. "But we have to survive… together!"
The Guardian raised both arms, channeling energy from the shattered crystal. Its entire body began to glow. The cracks in its stone surface started healing magically as energy flowed through it.
The blue light intensified, forming a protective dome around Ran and Mariya. Within the dome, the air shimmered and pulsed with raw temple power.
Victor, gathering his remaining dark energy, launched shadow spikes from his body. They shot toward the dome like missiles.
The Guardian swung its massive fist, shattering each spike into pieces of dark smoke. Its speed and precision were beyond imagination.
Mariya raised her hands, channeling energy from the Guardian and the temple's residual power. A surge of blue energy shot out from her palms, merging with the Guardian's aura.
Ran's sword glowed with a radiant light as he infused his energy into the Guardian as well. The three forces—Ran, Mariya, and the Guardian—became one unstoppable wave of power.
The chamber shook as the temple began collapsing faster. The floor split open in places, lava-like energy escaping from the cracks. Stones, dust, and ancient debris rained down.
Mariya felt the pulse of the temple energy. Every stone, every beam, every symbol of the ancient temple was alive. She connected with it, feeling its heartbeat and its will.
"Ran… it's alive! The temple is alive!" she shouted.
"Yes… we must survive with its power!" Ran yelled back.
The Guardian roared, a sound so deep it made the entire underground structure vibrate. It struck the ground with both fists, sending waves of energy through the temple. Each strike stabilized parts of the collapsing floor and ceiling, giving Ran and Mariya a way to escape.
But the temple's collapse was relentless. More pillars fell. Massive stones blocked their path. Dust and smoke made it almost impossible to see.
Mariya spotted a narrow tunnel leading to the surface. "Ran! There's a tunnel! This way!"
Ran grabbed her hand, and they ran. The Guardian continued to fight the collapse behind them, smashing debris and creating paths of light.
The temple's core exploded in a massive surge of energy. The blue crystal shattered completely, releasing a final blinding pulse. The Guardian absorbed some of it, growing even more luminous.
The tunnel shook violently as they rushed through. Chunks of ceiling fell behind them. Flames erupted from broken torches.
Finally, they emerged into the open air. The night sky greeted them. They were bruised, exhausted, clothes torn, but alive.
Behind them, the temple had completely collapsed into rubble. Dust clouds swirled, but a faint blue glow still pulsed deep within the ruins.
The Guardian was nowhere to be seen, but its essence remained. Its power had saved them. Its legacy had merged with Ran and Mariya.
Ran pulled Mariya close. "The temple is gone… but its energy is with us."
Mariya smiled through her exhaustion. "And we survived… thanks to the Guardian."
Far below, in the rubble, the temple's heart still pulsed faintly, as if waiting for the next chapter of its ancient story to unfold.
The Awakening of a New Power
The night had become completely silent.
Stars filled the dark sky like scattered diamonds. A cold wind moved slowly across the mountains, carrying dust from the ruins of the ancient temple.
Ran and Mariya stood on a rocky cliff, staring at the place where the underground temple once stood.
Now there was nothing left but broken stone, shattered pillars, and piles of rubble.
The temple that had existed for centuries had completely collapsed.
For a long moment, neither of them spoke.
The silence felt heavy, almost unreal.
Finally, Mariya broke it.
"It's over…"
Her voice was quiet, almost a whisper.
Ran kept looking at the ruins.
"Maybe," he said slowly, "but I don't think this story is over yet."
Mariya turned toward him.
"What do you mean?"
Ran closed his fist slowly.
Something strange was happening inside his body.
A warm energy was moving through his veins.
It felt powerful… ancient… and alive.
"I can feel something," Ran said.
"What kind of something?" Mariya asked.
Ran looked at his hand.
"Energy."
At that exact moment, Mariya suddenly gasped.
"Ran… look!"
Ran turned quickly.
A faint blue glow had appeared around Mariya's hands.
Tiny sparks of energy floated in the air around her fingers.
Her eyes widened.
"I… I'm not doing anything."
The light grew brighter.
The small stones near her feet suddenly began to rise slowly into the air.
Ran stared in shock.
"You're controlling them!"
Mariya shook her head nervously.
"No… I'm not trying to."
But the energy around her continued to grow.
The blue aura around her body started expanding like gentle waves of light.
Ran felt the same energy inside himself.
A sudden pulse ran through his body.
Without thinking, he placed his hand on the ground.
The moment his palm touched the earth—
A ripple of blue energy spread across the rocky surface.
The ground vibrated softly.
Both of them looked at each other in disbelief.
"This… can't be real," Mariya whispered.
Ran stood up slowly.
"The temple's power…"
Mariya finished his sentence.
"…is inside us."
A strong wind suddenly rushed across the mountains.
Dust rose from the ruins.
And then something strange happened.
A faint blue glow appeared deep inside the collapsed rubble.
It was small… but clearly visible.
Ran pointed toward it.
"Do you see that?"
Mariya nodded.
"Yes… something is still there."
They carefully walked toward the ruins.
Each step made loose stones slide beneath their feet.
The glow became stronger as they got closer.
Finally, Mariya saw it.
A small crystal fragment was lying between two broken stones.
It was a piece of the temple's original energy crystal.
The same crystal that had once powered the Guardian.
Mariya slowly reached down and picked it up.
The moment her fingers touched the crystal—
A massive wave of energy exploded outward.
Blue light filled the entire area.
Ran and Mariya were thrown backward by the power.
They collapsed onto the ground as visions flooded their minds.
Ancient images appeared before their eyes.
They saw warriors from thousands of years ago.
They saw the temple being built deep beneath the mountain.
They saw the Guardian being awakened for the first time.
A giant stone protector created to guard the temple's sacred power.
Then suddenly…
A deep voice echoed in the glowing void.
"You are the chosen guardians now."
Ran looked around.
"Who said that?"
The voice returned.
"The power of the temple lives within you."
Mariya whispered,
"Is that… the Guardian?"
The voice continued calmly.
"The temple may have fallen… but its power will survive through you."
Images of the past slowly faded away.
The light disappeared.
Ran and Mariya slowly opened their eyes.
Everything was quiet again.
But something had changed.
They could both feel it.
They were no longer ordinary.
Ran slowly drew his sword.
The blade instantly began glowing with a soft blue light.
Energy moved along the metal like flowing water.
Mariya raised her hand.
A circle of floating energy formed around her palm.
Tiny sparks of power danced in the air.
Both of them realized the truth.
The temple's ancient power had chosen them.
They were now the new guardians.
But at that exact moment—
A dark presence appeared on the distant mountain ridge.
Ran immediately sensed it.
He turned sharply.
Someone was standing in the shadows.
A tall figure with glowing dark eyes.
Victor.
He was still alive.
And he looked more dangerous than ever.
Victor stepped forward slowly.
A twisted smile appeared on his face.
"So… you survived."
Ran tightened his grip on his sword.
Victor continued speaking.
"And it seems you have inherited the temple's power."
Mariya stepped beside Ran.
"Stay away from us."
Victor laughed softly.
"Oh don't worry."
His eyes glowed with dark energy.
"This only makes things more interesting."
Dark shadows began swirling around his body.
"Because now…"
Victor raised his hand slowly.
"The real war begins."
Suddenly his body dissolved into black mist.
Within seconds, he disappeared into the darkness of the mountains.
Ran looked toward the empty ridge.
"He's planning something."
Mariya nodded.
"Yes… and next time he won't be alone."
The wind blew gently again.
Above them, the stars continued shining.
Far in the distance, a faint blue glow appeared in the sky.
Almost like the spirit of the Guardian watching over them.
Ran looked at Mariya and smiled slightly.
"Whatever comes next…"
He raised his glowing sword.
"…we're ready."
And somewhere deep in the mountains…
The next battle was already beginning.
