The team established the operational rhythm that worked environments established: Rosanne managed the external monitoring, the communication schedule with Valerian's office and with Aethelgard's guild contacts, and the maintenance of the citadel's perimeter approach. Jessica and Donna ran the ongoing documentation of the bridge architecture as Isolde's compound work progressed, mapping each section against the original construction records so the application sequence would be optimally ordered. Mika used the calibration work she had done during the Nexus Institute programme and applied it to the specific atmospheric density of the citadel's interior, which was different from the surrounding terrain — higher, more structured, the product of thirty years of refined mana concentration.
He noticed, over the first week, that Mika had begun working through the manufacturing sector's former incubation chambers with Vorash's permission, documenting the entity biology before the corruption's clearance had fully completed. The pre-framework entity development had specific characteristics that the standard primordial world's fauna didn't share, and Mika's elemental sensitivity was well-suited to reading the distinction.
She brought the documentation to him one evening.
"The base entities — before the corruption modified them," she said. "The wrath frequency wasn't just a behavioural modifier. It was suppressing something."
He read the documentation.
The entities' biology had a specific property in the pre-corruption baseline: a spatial law resonance in their cellular architecture that was not common in standard primordial world fauna. Something that had been built into the manufacturing sector's design from the beginning.
"Vorash's custodians," Markus said.
"Were they designed to interact with spatial law," she said.
"Ask him," he said.
She did.
Vorash's answer, which he received through Mika's report: the custodians had been designed with a rudimentary spatial law affinity specifically so they could operate within the bridge's architectural field without being destabilised by the spatial distortion the construction produced. The design had required the spatial law resonance in the biology.
The corruption had not removed the resonance. It had redirected the entities' behaviour while the resonance remained in their cellular architecture. Twenty-five years of entities with spatial law resonance being directed toward the framework boundary.
Not just wrath frequency attacks. Spatial law attacks, using the entities' inherent resonance as the delivery mechanism.
He sent this to Valerian's office with the updated threat assessment. The boundary degradation the anchor network had been showing was not only from the corruption's atmospheric effect. The custodian entities' spatial law resonance had been contributing to the degradation directly.

Their methodology, according to the records, was not direct intervention. Patient, structural, operating below the threshold of direct detection.
The Society had lost track of them approximately one hundred and sixty years ago.

Current objective: consistent with the Undoing faction's stated position throughout their documented history — demonstrating the framework's incompleteness, not destroying the framework.
The distinction was subtle and important. An entity trying to destroy the framework would have produced more dramatic attacks. What the documentation showed was an entity trying to allow the framework to fail on its own terms — accelerating the process rather than forcing an outcome.
He read the documentation twice.
The Undoing faction believed the framework was failing. The two million years inside the black hole, the two thousand years of Gaia's time, the atmospheric concentration increasing, the anchor stress — from the outside, reading the framework without the design intent that his parents had built into it, it looked like a failing structure.
The faction was working to accelerate the failure because they believed it would happen anyway and a faster resolution was preferable to a prolonged degradation.
This was a coherent position.
It was wrong, because it didn't account for the design — the anchor network's interval recording, the megalithic arch's placement, the specific combination of spatial and temporal law that the completion required. But it was wrong from a position of incomplete information rather than malice.
He sent this analysis to Elena and to Valerian.
He also sent it to Rael, through the secure channel.
Vorash had access to three centuries of primordial world experience and pre-framework theoretical knowledge that no current practitioner had, and Markus was the only person in the citadel who had the spatial law comprehension to properly engage with that knowledge.
The conversations that developed between them over the working weeks were the specific kind that the fourth page's comprehension required: correct thinking about temporal-spatial law from a practitioner who had been studying the subject from the outside for three centuries, received by a practitioner who had the spatial law's 100% comprehension and the developing time law capacity.
Vorash explained the pre-fracture universe's properties. The elemental laws had not been separate disciplines — they had been expressions of a unified field. The fracture had not created the elemental laws; it had collapsed the unified field into its component expressions. "The unified field expressing itself where the fracture's fragmentation has been incomplete," Vorash confirmed. "The zones where the elemental disciplines have not fully separated. The fruit you found was a node where the original unified field remained intact."
"Which is why the Genesis Fruit is incompatible with current cultivation frameworks," Markus said. "Our cultivation pathways are built on the fragmented elemental disciplines. Contact with the unified field is structurally incompatible."
"Yes," Vorash said. "To absorb the Genesis Fruit, a practitioner would need a cultivation pathway built on the unified field rather than its fragments. Which would require having developed in the pre-fracture universe, or having access to a method of rebuilding the cultivation pathway from the fragmented base."
Markus thought about the fourth page.
"The temporal-spatial integration," he said. "When the framework is completed at the anchor coordinate — is that completing a node of the fragmented spatial-temporal law, or is it completing a node of the unified field?"
Vorash was still.
"Those are the same question," Vorash said slowly. "Spatial law and temporal law in the framework are two of the fracture's fragments. Before the fracture, they were one expression."
"The framework installed the spatial architecture," Markus said. "Incompletely — the temporal dimension wasn't fully integrated. What my parents designed for the completion isn't just finishing the framework's spatial architecture."
"It's beginning the reunification," Vorash said.
They sat with this.
"At one coordinate," Markus said. "The Sector 12 anchor."
"One coordinate," Vorash agreed. "But a proof of concept. A demonstration that the reunification is possible."
"The Undoing faction's argument collapses," Markus said. "Not because the framework is complete as originally installed. Because the framework is capable of completing in a way that addresses the incompleteness."
He understood what the fourth page meant when it described the temporal-spatial node's significance.
It was not a local repair.
It was a demonstration that the fracture's consequences could be addressed. That the separated fragments could begin to reconnect. That the work Chronos and Nyx had done, imperfect and bought at enormous cost, was not the end point but the beginning of a much longer process.
The comprehension moved.
He read it in the spatial sense's quality when he extended it the following morning — the specific additional resolution that accompanied a comprehension advance. Not the fourth page's threshold, but meaningfully closer.
He told Isolde that evening.

"Probably," he said.

"You need to tell Vorash," she said.
"Yes," he said.
"And Valerian," she said. "The council conditions included advance notice before the crossing. If the timeline has moved up, they need to know now."
He sent the communications.
Then he went back to the fourth page and worked.
Sloane's message came from the Aurelian estate on the eighteenth day.
The foundation work is complete. The first academic cohort's entrance assessment date has been set by Isolde's deputy — she left detailed instructions before departing. Forty-three practitioners have submitted assessment applications from across the eastern provinces and two from the northern borders. The three martial families have each sponsored candidates.
The Grand Regent came to inspect the site. He did not say much. He looked at the construction for a long time and then asked who had designed the spatial compression in the training chamber architecture. I told him it was Isolde's work. He said "of course it was" and left.
The Undoing faction name you sent — one of Errath's martial family contacts recognized it. They have a tradition of oral history that predates the archive records. The entity was known in the eastern territories before the mana event. Known as someone who had come from elsewhere, was looking for a way back, and was willing to do significant damage to get it.
That description fits two entities in the current picture.
Send Isolde back when you can spare her. The first cohort needs the Headmistress.
He read this twice.
Two entities fitting the description. One was Vorash. One was the Undoing faction.
Two entities from before the framework, both trying to get home.
He thought about this.
The Undoing faction's argument was that the framework's incompleteness made it worse than no framework. Their method was accelerating the failure. But if what they actually wanted was the same thing Vorash wanted — to return to wherever they had come from before the fracture separated them — then the completion of the framework was not an obstacle to their objective. It was the solution to it.
A completed framework would close the Undoing faction's attack surface at each integrated coordinate.
But a completed framework would also, eventually, complete the reunification that the fourth page described. The fragmented elemental laws beginning to reconnect. The barrier between universes becoming a managed boundary rather than an uncontrolled fracture.
A managed boundary that both Vorash and the Undoing faction might be able to pass through cleanly, if the integration proceeded correctly.
He needed to send this analysis to Valerian. And to Elena. And to Rael.
And eventually, he suspected, he needed to find the Undoing faction and have the conversation that hadn't happened yet.
