Levis found Magneto's room without much difficulty, the quiet hallway outside making the place feel more isolated than the rest of the academy. He raised a hand and knocked firmly on the door, waiting only a moment before a voice came from inside.
"Come in."
The tone was steady, older, carrying that familiar weight of authority. Levis pushed the door open and stepped inside without hesitation.
"Magneto, I heard you wanted to talk to me?" he said, getting straight to the point.
Inside the room, Magneto stood in front of the machine—the one capable of turning ordinary humans into mutants. His gaze was fixed on it, as if trying to dissect every flaw and possibility at the same time. Only after sensing Levis's presence did he speak again, his voice slower now, more deliberate.
"Weiss, you were right. This machine has too many fatal flaws," Magneto said quietly, his expression unreadable. "With my current ability, I can't improve it any further."
Levis raised an eyebrow slightly, genuinely surprised. It seemed that whatever discussion Magneto had with Professor X the previous night had shifted something in him. The fact that he could admit the machine's limitations so plainly was already a significant change.
"Really? That's not a problem," Levis replied with an easy shrug, his tone casual as ever. "If one person can't solve it, then bring in more people. With enough minds working on it, success is only a matter of time."
Magneto turned to look at him, a hint of suspicion in his eyes. "What exactly are you planning?"
Levis's smile sharpened just a little. "Dr. Campbell. You've heard of him, right?"
Magneto's expression shifted instantly. "You've already made contact with him?" he asked, surprise slipping into his voice.
"More than that," Levis said calmly. "He's under my control."
That answer made Magneto go silent for a brief moment. The implications were obvious, and none of them were small.
Levis continued without pause. "The Sentinel program he's working on is just as dangerous as the Mutant Registration Act—maybe worse. If that project succeeds, mutants won't just be restricted. They'll be wiped out."
Magneto frowned, his thoughts clearly turning over what he knew. He had always kept track of threats against mutantkind, but hearing it laid out this directly still carried weight. The idea that something like that could escalate to total annihilation wasn't something even he could ignore.
"There's no question about Campbell's abilities," Levis went on. "If he joins this project, improving the machine won't take long."
Magneto studied him for a moment longer, then gave a slow nod. "Fine. I agree. What do you need from me?"
"Simple," Levis said. "Find me a secure, hidden lab. Somewhere fully isolated. I'll handle the rest."
The requirements were straightforward, but the implications were not. A project like this couldn't exist in the open. It needed to be hidden, protected, and fully equipped. Magneto had the resources and connections to find such a place, while Levis had no shortage of ways to handle everything else.
Funding, equipment, data access—it was all trivial to him now. With electromagnetic manipulation, accessing digital systems and moving money around was almost effortless. If he needed resources, he could take them without leaving a trace, pulling dormant funds from forgotten accounts as easily as breathing.
To him, banks weren't institutions. They were just vaults waiting to be opened.
Magneto didn't question that part. He simply nodded again, accepting the division of roles without argument.
The two of them spent the next stretch of time discussing details—logistics, timelines, security measures. The conversation remained focused, practical, each of them refining the plan piece by piece until it reached a workable structure.
They only stopped when a knock sounded at the door.
"Weiss, are you in there?"
Levis walked over and opened it, finding Polaris standing just outside. "Lorna? What's up?" he asked, his tone casual.
Polaris's eyes flicked briefly past him into the room, where Magneto stood, before returning to Levis. The glance was subtle, almost unnoticeable, but it carried more meaning than she let on.
"Professor X is looking for you," she said.
"Got it. I'll head over now," Levis replied with a nod. Then he turned back toward Magneto. "We'll pick this up later."
Without waiting for a response, he stepped out into the hallway and started walking.
As he moved, he didn't forget something important.
[Ding! Did the host check in with Mutant Magneto?]
"Check in."
[Ding! Check-in successful. Congratulations, host. You have gained 200 experience points.]
Levis slowed slightly, his expression shifting. "Wait… what?"
That wasn't what he expected.
Normally, a successful check-in meant gaining a new ability. But this time, instead of a power, he received a larger chunk of experience points.
Frowning slightly, he opened up his system interface to confirm.
It didn't take long to understand.
Since he already possessed the corresponding ability—electromagnetic manipulation—the system had converted the reward into double experience instead. It wasn't a loss, but it still left a faint sense of disappointment.
He had been hoping to push that ability even further.
Still, experience wasn't useless. Far from it.
Levis pulled up his full status panel, scanning through it briefly.
[Host: Levis][Abilities: Vector Manipulation, Teleportation, Cryokinesis, Pyrokinesis, Energy Absorption, Electromagnetism, Evolution, Telepathy, Infrasound, Spatial Reversal, Atomic Collapse, Invisibility, Molecular Manipulation, Dragon Form, Super Intelligence, Weather Control…][Ability Level: Lv.4 (Level 4 Mutant)][Experience: 10000 / 2300]
He exhaled softly, dismissing the interface.
Not bad.
By the time he reached Professor X's office, his thoughts had already settled. He knocked lightly before entering, only to notice that Phil Coulson was no longer inside.
It seemed their discussion had already concluded.
"Professor, you wanted to see me?" Levis asked.
Professor X looked up from his desk, a warm smile appearing on his face. "Yes, my boy. How did your conversation with Erik go?"
Levis stepped forward slightly. "We worked something out."
Without holding back, he explained the plan he and Magneto had just discussed, laying out the core idea and how they intended to execute it.
Professor X listened carefully, his expression thoughtful throughout. When Levis finished, he gave a slow, approving nod.
"It's not perfect," he admitted. "But it's a significant improvement over Erik's original approach."
There was a pause as his gaze softened slightly.
"If it truly becomes possible for ordinary humans to activate their X-gene safely… without side effects…" he continued, his voice quieter now, filled with cautious hope, "then perhaps the conflict between mutants and humans could finally come to an end."
