Heat seeker, beast point of view.
I hear someone speaking, someone pokes my face. My arm swings up hitting something. I hear a sharp offended gasp.
"My dear rival, i saved you and thats how you repay me? By hitting me in the face"
I open my eyes slowly turning my head as I do.
"Oh sorry mordret"
his hand is on his chest like a middle aged legacy mother.
"I said I'm sorry. You're the one leaning over me while waking me up, knowing sometimes my arm swings up."
He huffs
"I'm not the one who swung my arm into my saviors face"
I sit up, my armor is very broken, ill have to desummon it, and change. I stand up, I've been healed? It would appear one of his vessels can heal, thats useful.
"So. This is your main base?"
He tries to push me back down
"no no, rest. And yes this is my main base"
I crack a grin
"did you get got by the headache runes"
he smiles
"unfortunately yes. I've been studying them"
I try to get up again but he pushes me back down.
"Is this going to keep happening?"
"Yes. Stay down. You just had a fight with unrelenting storm, you need rest."
I am a supreme, and one with a pretty strong domain at that. I don't need to rest, but he's not going to let me get up. He stands up
"you like eating food right? I'll get you some"
he quickly leaves.
He won't win I'm sure of that. With all of humanity, or most at least, under the control of Asterion he's far too string for mordret to win. With unrelenting storm adding themself into the mix its going to become far worse for him. They have full knowledge of his abilities, tactics and combat skill, while having a lot less information about Asterion. Their strikes on the two won't be the same in how bad they are for the affected party.... wait wait wait, what even is mordrets domain affect? Can only his vessels be part of his domain? Or can others join his domain? I hear a quiet voice
"oh hello, your ■■■■ right, or one of them"
I turn my head towards a pocket mirror...? Was that creepy fuck watching me?!
"He only watched to make sure you didn't die. He wasn't watching you sleep."
The reflection waves his hands. Is that who sunny and neph told me about
"your the mordret i haven't met right?"
He nods
"yes that would be me, war called me mordred, oddly enough"
his tone is softer, his posture is relaxed. His face lacks a edge most awakened have.
"That seems a good why to differentiate you two. Now, why would he think I was going to die"
"oh, you don't have a heartbeat and your skin is always cold. With how beat up you had been and no clear way to check if you weren't dead, he got worried"
I sit up
"maybe you should stay down?"
I look at the mirror not very entertained
"I am a war hero sovereign. I am fine"
I lift my leg looking it over, theres some more cracks. Its going to hurt more when I walk annoyingly enough.
"I know but the injuries you had could have easily killed most people"
"i closed the ones that could have killed me, and I replaced my arm. And don't mention blood loss"
I roll my arms, seems all good, hurts as much as normal.
"Now, why are you here? I thought mordret wouldn't let you close to the one sovereign that wouldn't die by killing you"
he smiles, quite widely at that
"oh he trusts you not to!"
I wouldn't, but still
"mordret, trust me? I smashed in his kneecaps. Now it was for my own very good reason but still"
he goes to say something but instead he disappears as the door opens.
"Rain? Damnation how did you get here?"
She sighs walking over and sitting next to me
"long story. Or well I don't really remember"
"oh that bitch got you too."
I take her shoulder
"look rain if mordret messes with you, tell me, I'll beat his ass"
she lifts her hands
"no no, its okay, really its fine, hedoesn't mess with me"
her eyes look down at my armor
"oh, how hasn't that broken yet?"
Her voice is more then a little alarmed. I turn the mirror around
"I've got to change, thanks for reminding me"
she turns around as I desummon my wooden armor and I summon something i bribed sunny to enchant, I've got too many memories that I bribed sunny to make. For a sovereign hes pretty cheap.
"There we go. Less bad now"
she turns around and pokes me in the cheek right on a crack
"ow. Stop that"
She pulls her hand away like it burnt her.
"Sorry I didnt think those actually hurt!"
"Well they do. Your a adult now, oh god, so don't go poking people"
I feel old now.
"Sorry, sorry"
she looks around
"so how bad was it? I wasn't there to see how badly you got injured, but I sure heard mordrets reaction"
gosh how bad was it?
"Pretty bad, I got it real bad thats for sure"
I laugh
"but i'm fine now, or well better"
she seems a little concerned
"if you say so. Well? Are you going to keep teaching me?"
Hmmmmmm. No, I've got to do something
"hey you've got sunny teaching you! You don't need it"
She sighs.
Mordret pips his head in
"hey, dont bother them, their still recovering."
He comes into the room putting the tray of food down. Some soup, bread, a glass of water and a little cake.
"Now go on. Shoo."
He pushes rain away
"i mean it, go, get out"
she looks at me like he's being weird. He is, I don't doubt its part way to annoy me the other part to entertain himself.
"Okay okay I'll go"
she glances at me then leaves. Mordret takes a seat patting himself off, not going to question the apron. He puts the tray in his lap getting a mischievous expression
"why don't you let me fee-"
i grab the tray
"don't joke like that."
He sighs dramatically still smiling
"Oh fine fine"
I go to eat the cake, I stop because he starts snickering. I instead eat the soup and bread. It's pretty good honestly. Wait did he
"did you laugh to get me to eat the soup first"
"as guilt as charged"
I swear I'll might smack him. Just as foolish as I thought he was. I finally eat the small cake slice, its actually shockingly nice?
"Didn't know you have a sweet tooth"
he smiles, its not mischievous at least.
"Oh, did you figure that out just by how the cake tastes?"
"Yeah, and the texture. I've never pictured you making cake but its clear you've got experience"
he leans forward
"say something stupid and I'll whack you"
he leans back putting his hands up in a surrendering gesture. The same the other one of him did
"Fine fine."
I stand up, he tries to push me back down. So I make a stick of ice and I whack him.
"Ow how cruel you are!"
I tap my foot
"I'm not a child"
he gestures at my leg
"I couldn't heal some of the cracks, you really should heal more"
I scoff
"those can't heal. I got them when the original died for a bit"
he goes silent his smile dropping completely. Its more then a little creepy
"what?"
"When becoming a sovereign. They died for a while. I got permanently cracked. It seems war made some worse."
He stares at me for a while before getting back a smile
"well their just for looks anyways, quite cool looking i must say"
I tilt my head
"no they hurt. All the time actually, more so when pressure is put on them"
he just gets baffled.
"They hurt... do the ones on your legs hurt right now"
I nod, they do hurt when I stand or walk
"then lay back down you idiot!"
He then almost picks me up to throw me back into the bed. He gets a smile but its clear he's annoyed.
"If it hurts stop putting pressure on it. Has nobody mentioned that?"
I grimace
"I've got things to do"
"not ones you should hurt yourself for. How are you even my rival, your stupid."
I lift the stick to whack him again. He grabs it breaking it. Then he storms off.
