The two sat on the flat rock. Sky's lips moved as if she were savoring every bit. She held him in her mouth, swirling and tasting for a long time before finally swallowing with a "gulp."
"Thank you for the meal."
After so long, she had finally released the frustration of the past few days. Seeing the Trainer acting so intimate with Teio, she had acted indifferent on the surface, but her heart had been burning. She had vowed that one day, she would have her way with him. And now, she had succeeded.
What was the point of being so strict, Teio? In the end, it was Sky who "claimed" him.
Sky licked her lips, cleaning the residue from her fingertips. It was such a rich flavor. She wore a look of lingering desire. She looked up and opened her mouth.
"Trainer, ahh~~ see? I ate it all up."
"Oh... yeah... good job..."
"Hehe. Is Trainer already hopelessly in love with Sei-chan?"
"A little bit."
"Trainer being so honest makes it hard for me to know what to say. Maybe next time we should just perform in front of Teio."
"That would be the end of the team."
"Just a joke. Sei-chan isn't that mean. This kind of thing is much more fun in secret."
Sky had already gained the "Factor Inheritance" and "Stamina +10" effects. Even without a UI, Luo Cheng could tell.
"Trainer is marked with Sei-chan's scent, and Sei-chan is marked with Trainer's. We've both 'stained' each other." Sky made a peace sign.
"Anyway, let's eat something... it's past noon..."
"Sei-chan has already eaten so much, and yet Trainer wants her to eat more? How mean."
"I'm talking about actual food. Did you make sandwiches? Salmon sandwiches... and what's this... milk?" Luo Cheng rummaged through the tackle box.
"A complex lunch is too hard to carry. I could only make something simple." Sky stretched. After "exercise," she wanted to rest. Looking at the rod, she exclaimed, "Oh? A fish has been on the hook for ages, Trainer. Neither of us noticed."
The primary goal of the day was still fishing; the interlude was over. A happy Sky reeled in the line, put the fish in the tank, and cast again. Soon, Luo Cheng started getting bites too.
"Oh!" Feeling the vibration of the rod, Luo Cheng's eyes lit up. He pulled hard and yanked a large fish out of the pond. Watching the squirming silver body in the air, he shouted excitedly, "Sky, I got one!"
"Good job, Trainer!" She immediately rushed over with the net.
For the next few hours, the two were busy by the pond.
"A bumper harvest! Today really is a bumper harvest, Trainer. It's rare to see fish swarming the shore like this. It looks like it's about to rain."
"Huh? Rain?"
Boom! Without warning, a deafening thunderclap erupted in the sky. Soon, rain began to fall. Sky immediately packed up the gear. "Here it comes! Trainer, let's go. I should have checked the forecast."
Even a veteran angler like Sky had forgotten to check the weather in her excitement to be out with her Trainer. They needed to get back to Tracen before the heavy rain started—wait, no, the Trainer said he didn't want to go back. They could just find a hotel on the street.
In that case, there was no rush. Sky's pace slowed down.
"Why are you stopping?"
"I suddenly feel like enjoying the rain is quite nice, too."
"I agree, but only if we have an umbrella." Luo Cheng took her hand. "Let's go, Sky! We don't want to catch a cold!"
Even though Luo Cheng was the one pulling her, with a horse girl's speed, they could have been back ages ago. It was actually Luo Cheng who was slowing her down. Yet, Sky stayed exactly one step behind him.
As they emerged from the forest and saw the street, the rain intensified, quickly soaking their clothes. Sky's white over-the-knee socks were soon speckled with mud. Lugging several pounds of fish, a panting Luo Cheng led Sky into a nearby hotel.
"A room for two, please."
"Certainly. A double room?"
"Yes."
"A double room, huh." Sky whispered the words. Luo Cheng turned to see she was already drenched. Her green bangs clung to her cheeks, water dripping from the tips, and her long lashes were wet, reflecting the light beautifully.
"One with a bathtub."
"Of course."
Taking the key, Luo Cheng led her upstairs. Outside, the sky had turned pitch black. Thunder rolled and lightning flashed as the rain grew even heavier. Good thing they made it back in time.
The phone rang. It was Teio. Sky snatched it away, hung up, and sent another text.
[Staying out tonight. Don't worry.]
Right to the end, Seiun Sky was "stealing the base."
"Take a shower. There are yukatas in the room."
"I knew you'd say that, Trainer." Sky stripped off her clothes, revealing her fair chest and smooth abdomen. Turning slightly, she said, "Let's shower together, Trainer. You're soaked, too."
"I'll wait."
"Ara~ thinking about propriety at a time like this? It's a bit late for that, isn't it? Or is it that Trainer 'can't' anymore and doesn't want me to see? I only teased you a little bit, and you've already surrendered?"
"Huh? I was just trying to enjoy the sound of the rain. Since you asked for it, I won't be holding back, Sky!"
"How scary~ Zako Trainer."
"I'll show you who the 'Zako' is!"
The two entered the bathroom. They didn't come out for two hours. Sky's skin glowed with moisture as she leaned against the exhausted Luo Cheng.
"Let's call this round a draw. You dummy, how could you hit the cold water switch?"
"Because you made me pick you up."
"My feet were tired from standing on my tiptoes. What were you thinking, doing that in a shower?"
"I was provoked by you."
"Was that it? I already forgot." Sky giggled. "Why don't we mark today as our anniversary? What do you think, Trainer?" Stretching her lithe body, the yukata-clad Sky lay on Luo Cheng's lap, water droplets glistening in her green hair.
"Sure." But Luo Cheng felt the day was worth commemorating not just because of the "exercise," but because of the fishing. He had felt a long-lost joy that wasn't clouded by any other thoughts.
Luo Cheng looked at the time on the clock.
"Trainer, what are you looking at?"
"My time might be running out... Today was truly fun, Sky. Fishing was great..."
"Time?"
Tick! The second hand crossed twelve. The world turned black.
[Special Event: Fishing - COMPLETED] [Speed +3, Power +2, Guts +3]
When Luo Cheng woke up again, he was back in his office. A tank full of fish sat on the desk.
