Tatsumaki bit her lower lip, her green curls shifting restlessly against the pillow. "Just talk about anything… like your past."
Sol sat on the floor beside the bed, leaning back against the frame. "I used to be ordinary. Then I accidentally awakened Psychokinesis, and things just… kept moving forward from there."
"Liar." Tatsumaki rolled over to face him. "No normal person becomes S-Class that quickly."
Moonlight slipped through the gap in the curtains, falling across Sol's face. He tilted his head slightly, meeting her gaze with a calm smile. "Maybe I just worked harder."
"Idiot." She reached out and poked his shoulder. "Lots of people work hard. None of them are like you."
Her fingertips were cool, soft in a way that lingered. Without thinking, Sol caught her hand. "Then what do you think it is?"
Tatsumaki froze. Surprisingly, she didn't pull away immediately. Her hair trembled faintly. "How would I know?"
Sol traced his fingers lightly along hers, then leaned in slightly, as if catching something in the air. "You always have a nice scent."
"Pervert!" She yanked her hand back and hid under the blanket, only her bright green eyes visible. "Who said you could do that?"
"Sorry." He chuckled softly. "Couldn't help it."
Under the blanket, her heart pounded uncontrollably. She gripped the fabric tightly, her face burning.
What is wrong with him tonight?
"You…" Her voice came out muffled. "Were you really there to buy ice cream?"
Sol looked at the lumped blanket, then pressed it lightly. "Yeah. And I wanted to watch you eat it."
The blanket flew off instantly. Tatsumaki glared at him, cheeks flushed. "So you did have bad intentions!"
Her hair was slightly frizzy from static, giving her a softer look under the moonlight. Without thinking, Sol reached out and gently patted her head.
"You're cuter like this."
"Don't call me cute!" Her voice weakened halfway through. She unconsciously leaned into his hand for a brief second, then snapped back. "Who allowed you to touch me?!"
Sol's hand paused midair, a faint smile forming. "Sorry. Reflex again."
She stared at him, then suddenly grabbed his collar. "What's wrong with you tonight?"
The distance between them vanished in an instant. Their breathing overlapped. Sol could clearly see the slight tremble of her lashes and the tension in her eyes.
"Maybe the moonlight is nice," he said quietly.
Her ears turned red immediately. She tried to pull away, but Sol's arm wrapped around her waist. Caught off guard, she fell into his arms before she could react.
"Let go!" she blurted, momentarily forgetting to use her powers.
"Relax." His chin rested lightly on her head. "Just stay like this for a bit."
Tatsumaki stiffened completely. Her heartbeat was loud in her ears. His presence surrounded her, steady and warm, making her thoughts scatter.
"You…" Her voice trembled slightly. "Why are you so warm? Did something happen to you?"
Sol let out a low chuckle, the vibration passing through her. "Maybe."
She immediately tried to push away. "Then you definitely shouldn't be this close!"
"You'll be fine." His hold tightened slightly. "You're the only one who gets this reaction out of me."
The words hit harder than she expected.
Her resistance weakened, little by little, until she settled against him. Her hair draped over his arm, soft and light.
"Idiot…" she muttered. "You just say things like that."
Sol didn't respond. He simply ran his fingers through her hair.
The room fell quiet, filled only with their breathing and the distant sound of wind.
After a while, her voice came again, softer.
"Rookie."
"Yeah?"
"Don't turn into a monster. Just stay like this."
Sol's hand paused briefly before continuing. "I'll try. If I do…"
His voice lowered slightly. "You can handle it however you want."
She stiffened, then held onto his shirt more tightly, her face hidden.
"Idiot. If that happens, I'll deal with you myself."
He could feel her trembling faintly. Gently, he patted her back. "Go to sleep. It's late."
Her body tensed again, then suddenly she pushed him away.
"Who said I want to sleep with you?!"
She sat upright, her hair flying around her, face completely red. "I just don't want you running off in the middle of the night."
Sol glanced at his now-empty arms, a small smile forming. "Then I'll sleep on the floor?"
"Do whatever you want!" She wrapped herself tightly in the blanket, only her eyes peeking out.
Almost immediately, she regretted pushing him away.
She wasn't used to this kind of closeness. Yet somehow, it felt… safe.
When Sol stood up to leave, her hand shot out and grabbed his.
"The floor is cold. Just sleep on the bed. I was just annoyed earlier…"
Her voice grew quieter with each word.
She turned away, but her eyes still flicked toward him.
Sol's expression softened. He gently pulled her back into his arms. "Alright. We'll stay here."
Tatsumaki froze again, her body tense as she listened to his steady heartbeat, her own racing in response.
Then suddenly, Sol shifted.
With a smooth motion, he guided her down onto the bed. His movement was controlled, leaving her no room to react. One hand rested beside her head, the other holding her wrist lightly.
Tatsumaki sank into the mattress, her hair spread across the pillow. Instinctively, she tried to move, but his knee pressed lightly against her leg, stopping her.
For a moment, neither of them spoke.
