Chapter 69 - 69: The Fall of the House of Evolution

Sol Mirek floated midair, surrounded by a radiant green aura. His black hair swayed violently under the surge of his psychokinesis.

He raised his right hand, fingers spread, then slowly curled them into a fist.

In the next instant, the entire House of Evolution base trembled. Cracks tore across the outer walls, steel beams twisted under immense pressure, and every window shattered at once. The eight story building looked as if an invisible titan had seized it, compressing it from every direction.

"How overwhelming is his psychokinesis?" Genos muttered, streams of combat data flashing across his mechanical vision.

Saitama scratched his head, calm as ever. "Sol wants to get home and cook."

When Sol's fingers fully tightened, a deafening roar erupted.

The House of Evolution base did not collapse. It vanished.

Every brick and steel beam was crushed into microscopic fragments in a single motion. Within a breath, the entire structure disintegrated into fine dust, scattering through the air without leaving debris behind.

Sol lowered himself gently to the ground and brushed off his clothes, though there was nothing on them. Fine gray particles shimmered in the sunlight around him.

He glanced at Saitama and Genos and shrugged. "Done."

Genos stared at the empty land in disbelief. "Senior, I thought we were supposed to experience the traps they prepared."

Sol looked at him with mild exasperation. "I stopped you because I was worried you would lose control and level the entire district."

He gave Genos a light pat on the shoulder. "We eliminate dangerous organizations. We do not create new disasters."

"Let's move," Sol said, walking toward what remained of the underground entrance.

Saitama stepped forward and tore open the iron door with ease. "Looks like there's a basement."

They descended.

Drip. Drip.

Gunfire echoed through the corridor, sharp and frantic.

"No, stop!" a clone screamed while firing wildly at the massive creature before him.

The bullets did nothing.

With a single punch, the beetle like humanoid monster reduced the clone to pulp.

The creature stood over three meters tall, its body encased in a thick brown carapace. A sharp horn jutted from its forehead, and six insect wings rested against its back. Around its neck was a reinforced collar, secured by heavy chains bolted to the room's four corners.

A thin figure entered the chamber.

Dr. Genus stepped behind the monster, his voice trembling despite his effort to sound composed. "Asura Kabuto, how are you feeling?"

Sweat dripped from his chin.

"You've destroyed many of my clones again. Are you satisfied?"

Asura Kabuto slowly turned, mist escaping from his mouth.

"Satisfied?" His voice was low and unstable. "How could I be satisfied?"

He crushed the collar around his neck with one hand, the metal snapping like brittle plastic.

"I am the ultimate creation of the House of Evolution. The strongest combat asset."

Dr. Genus lowered his gaze. "Your mental state is unstable. We cannot control you. That is why you were restrained."

"Control?" Asura slammed his fist into the wall, shaking the entire underground laboratory.

"I am the perfected New Human. My intellect and physical ability surpass your obsolete generation. You should be taking orders from me."

Dr. Genus said nothing. In his mind, he rejected the claim. Asura possessed power, but no restraint, no morality.

"I do not mind if you kill me," Dr. Genus said calmly. "I have replacements."

Asura paused.

"But there are two individuals I must acquire," Dr. Genus continued, activating a holographic display. Images of Sol and Saitama appeared. "Their strength exceeds expectations. Only you can confront them."

"Alive or dead does not matter."

Elsewhere in the corridor, Sol and the others walked casually through the underground passage.

The metal walls were scarred and corroded, lit by evenly spaced white lamps. The corridor was wide enough for several people to walk side by side.

"This place is spacious," Saitama remarked, looking around with curiosity. "Feels like a secret base from a childhood dream."

Sol nodded. "Everyone wanted one of these growing up."

Then he paused.

"They're coming."

Saitama blinked. "Already?"

Genos shifted into combat stance. "Teacher, two entities are approaching at high speed."

In the distance, a massive figure charged forward, carrying Dr. Genus.

The corridor cracked beneath each step.

"There are three of you," Asura Kabuto said excitedly. "Which two am I supposed to fight?"

"Everyone except the cyborg," Dr. Genus replied, shielding himself from falling debris.

"Oh? Then the cyborg is unnecessary."

Asura's fist shot toward Genos.

It stopped.

An invisible barrier blocked the strike effortlessly.

Genos's systems trembled. Without Sol's intervention, that single punch would have critically damaged him.

Asura tilted his head, amused. "Interesting."

He studied Sol and Saitama carefully.

"My name is Asura Kabuto," he announced. "There is a combat laboratory ahead. Let us settle this there."

He pointed toward a faintly illuminated passage deeper within the base.

Sol smiled lightly, hands in his pockets. "Lead the way. I hope you can entertain me."
