"Any questions about your first lesson today?"
The question Invidia asked the students hung in the air. Every student sat in their seats as they saw Invidia in a new light. They saw not only one who upheld the rules of the school, but one who did it to make sure that the guilty suffered in such a way that death would be considered mercy. A mix of fear and respect began to take root in the hearts of the students.
"Now that the situation has past, let's move forward to your actual lesson."
"Many of you have no doubt noticed that as your bond grows with your creature, the more changes happens to your body. Your instincts become more aware and you can sense things before it even happens. There may be strong cravings for specific foods or drinks that you must satisfy. Since I am a gorgon, in my case, my cravings are rats. There may be a possibility of a sea creature wanting to be away from a source of light. However, there are creatures that are more rare and dangerous to both their enemies and themselves. Take a dragon for instance. When a dragon breathes fire, its natural for them, however, a human is not easily capable of doing the same. Therefore if a human blessed by a dragon breathes fire, their throat burns as the human body cannot withstand the flames. So a dragon blessed might favor soothing drinks like tea."
'That must be why I drink so much water,' Jason thought to himself. 'And that explains Sophia's fixation on tea every training session.'
"It is important that you know what your limitations are so you can plan in advance before approaching any conflict before your own limitation is used against you. Any questions so far?" Invidia asked the class. Jason raised his hand. "Jason what is it?"
Jason stood up and pointed at Anthony. "How long will he stay like that? He might have a question."
Invidia looked at Jason with a raised eyebrow then turned her head in the direction of Anthony who was currently a stone statue. "Right I forgot about him." She said before snapping her fingers undoing the curse he was under.
Anthony collapsed right where he was and started breathing heavily. Anthony couldn't breathe nor move. He was stuck as a stone statue with no reprieve. So when he could finally move, everything came rushing at him all at once. Pain erupted throughout his body targetting his joints and his lungs. After a moment on the floor, he forced himself onto his feet and sat in his chair.
"Not bad. Normally it takes a little longer before someone recovers enough to move from the curse." Invidia says before resuming her lesson. She explained what happens after the gods reset the world and how the first blessed were created. "When the gods reset the world, they also created the blessed. They took the cells of their children and placed them inside of humans. The cells were similar to seeds in a sense. They were dormant until a specific moment in time before beginning to sprout. The cells sprouted until the the merged completely with the human host and a new being was born. Individuals that were born this way are known as an origin species. Origin species live longer and are more powerful compared to the rest of their species. They can also grant their children to have the same species of creatures as their own. It increases the strength of the family that way. The royal family of the Roman Empire is well known for this. They are the only ones blessed with hydras. So if you come into contact with one, you most likely have met a member of the Roman royal family."
The announcement bell rang and the students started to gather their things. "Anthony, can I see you for a moment."
Jason walked out of the classroom with the rest of the students and Anthony gave him a sneer before walking to Invidia's desk. 'I wonder what that was about,' Jason thought to himself. 'It's probably just about what happened before class.'
Little did Jason realize that a whole different conversation was being held.
Invidia looked at Anthony with a calm expression. "Do you know why you are here?"
"No. I don't."
Invidia tapped on her watch.
A notification appeared on Anthony's watch and he stared at it. A small grin appeared on his face. "You want your prize. You will need to earn it and remember, don't break the rules again. Next time I won't be so lenient."
Anthony bowed his head and walked out of the room. He looked at his watch again. His grin widened. 'I can finally show that lizard his place,' Anthony thought to himself. 'And I'll receive her too. Everything is finally clicking in place and I will have it all.'
Jason walked to his next class which was in the training hall. Students were walking down the hall with excited whispers.
"I wonder what it's going to be like training here." One girl said.
"I'm so excited I can't wait." One guy said.
"I just want to punch something."
Someone tapped Jason's shoulder. He turned and saw who it was. After seeing Sophia in her baggy clothes, he asked her, "So your in this class too?"
"Yes and we will be training together today. Afterwards, you will get something in return."
"What do you mean?"
"You don't remember what I said yesterday? I said I would give you something if you surprised me. You did m, so I will give you something later. If it's done."
"What is it?"
"It wouldn't be a surprise if I told you now would it? Now let's pick up the pace little quail. I'm eager to begin." Jason shook his head at the numerous amount of nicknames she kept giving him and quickened his pace to match her own.
The continued walking together until they reached the designated room for their lesson.
