Chapter 13 - part 13

{ Lights, Chaos, and a Wild Night}

Tyla walked into the room, dropped all the shopping bags onto the floor,

then threw herself onto the bed dramatically.

"Mom… guess who I saw."

Her mother looked at her curiously. "Who?"

Tyla turned her head with a playful smile. "Our neighbor… the house right next to us…"

She paused for effect.

"…is ian's house."

Her mother's eyes widened. "Wait—what?!"

Then she laughed. "That's such a strange coincidence!"

Tyla laughed too. "I know, right?"

A little later, Tyla was scrolling through her phone.

Her eyes lit up.

"So many clubs… Seoul looks so fun."

She suddenly sat up.

"Mom! Let's go to a club!"

Her mother gave her a look. "How?

You're underage."

Tyla grinned. "My 18th birthday is in two weeks. Let's go then."

Her mother thought for a moment… then smiled.

"Alright."

Tyla gasped happily.

"Thank you!!"

🎂 Two weeks later…

"Mom! I'm ready!"

"I'm ready too."

Tyla stood in front of the mirror.

She was wearing a bold outfit— a black top under an open black suit jacket, short black denim shorts, and knee-high black heels.

Her hair styled perfectly. Silver accessories shining under the light.

Her mother wore a simple elegant black dress, heels, and soft makeup.

They stepped into one of Seoul's most famous nightlife streets.

Music. Lights. Energy everywhere.

Tyla's eyes sparkled.

"This is exactly how I imagined it…"

They found a club.

"Let's go here!" Tyla said excitedly.

"Alright," her mother agreed.

Just as they were about to enter—

A loud engine sound.

A black motorcycle stopped near

them.

Tyla's eyes widened. "Wow… that's my dream bike…"

The rider took off his helmet.

Shook his hair.

Tyla froze.

"…Ian ?!"

Her mother blinked. "ian ? What are you doing here?"

He looked just as surprised.

"Mrs. Kim… Tyla? What are you doing here?"

Her mother smiled. "It's Tyla's birthday. We came to celebrate."

He looked at Tyla… and smiled softly.

"Happy birthday, Tyla."

She smiled back. "Thank you."

Then he added teasingly, "But how are you getting in? You have to be 18."

She lifted her chin proudly. "I am 18. Today."

He chuckled. "Well… that's good."

But something flickered in his eyes—hesitation. Eighteen. Too young.

His gaze lingered on her for a second longer than it should have… before he looked away.

She suddenly asked, "How old are you?"

"28. Just turned it four days ago."

She blinked. "Oh… you're much older than me."

Then laughed. "Our birthdays are close."

They went inside together.

The music was loud. Lights flashing. People dancing everywhere.

Tyla smiled widely. "This is amazing…"

İan walked off to the side, grabbed a drink, and stayed alone.

Meanwhile, Tyla and her mother celebrated.

Cake. Clapping. Candles.

She made a wish… and blew them out.

After a while, they danced.

Tyla leaned toward her mother. "Mom… I want a drink."

Her mother hesitated. "That's not good for you."

"Pleaaase… just a little…"

Her mother sighed. "Fine."

Tyla went to get a drink.

But suddenly—

Her mother's phone rang.

She stepped aside, her expression changing instantly.

"What?… When did this happen?"

Tyla frowned slightly, watching her.

Her mother came back quickly, worry all over her face.

"Miss Park is at the police station… something happened. I need to go check on her."

Tyla's eyes widened. "What?!"

"You stay here, okay? I'll be back."

They hugged quickly.

"Be careful."

"You too."

Now Tyla was alone.

She looked at the drink in her hand.

"…It's just a little."

She took a sip.

The taste was unfamiliar. Sharp. Burning slightly as it went down.

She made a face.

"…People actually like this?"

She laughed softly… then took another sip.

Then another.

A warmth began spreading slowly through her chest.

Her shoulders relaxed.

The music started to feel… louder.

Clearer.

Closer.

She blinked.

The lights seemed brighter now—almost too bright.

She shifted her weight.

"…Why does the floor feel weird?"

A soft dizziness crept in.

Not enough to scare her—

Just enough to make everything feel… light.

She giggled.

"Okay… this is kinda fun…"

Another sip.

Bad idea.

Her head spun slightly this time.

The room tilted—just a little.

Her body felt lighter… freer… like gravity wasn't holding her the same way anymore.

Her thoughts blurred at the edges.

The music wrapped around her.

She started moving.

Dancing.

At first, slow.

Then faster.

Freer.

Wild.

Laughing.

Spinning.

Completely lost in the moment.

İan noticed her from afar.

He smirked slightly.

"…She's crazy."

But there was something soft in his eyes.

A guy tried getting close to her.

Ian immediately stepped in and pushed him away.

Tyla looked at him, squinting.

"…Ian ? The cold weirdo is here?" she said loudly, clearly drunk.

He sighed. "Lower your voice…"

But before he could react—

She grabbed his hand.

"Dance with me!"

He froze.

She pulled him into the crowd.

Dancing.

Close.

Too close.

Her movements careless, bold.

She laughed.

Spun.

Even teasing him playfully.

He swallowed hard, his jaw tightening.

This wasn't good.

Not at all.

He should stop this.

Pull away.

But he didn't.

"…What is she doing…"

Then she slipped away again, dancing alone.

He ran a hand through his hair, trying to process everything.

Another guy approached her.

This time—he crossed the line.

Tried touching her.

Ian 's expression darkened instantly.

Something snapped.

He walked straight up—

And punched him.

Tyla gasped, covering her mouth.

Security rushed in.

"Damn it…"

Ian grabbed her hand.

"Come on!"

They ran.

Out of the club.

People shouting behind them.

They reached his motorcycle.

He quickly put on his helmet, then handed her another one.

She wore it quickly.

"But I've never ridden one before!"

"Just hold onto me."

She climbed behind him.

Wrapped her arms tightly around his waist.

Holding him firmly.

Too firmly.

Her head leaned against his back

Warm

Close

He stiffened slightly.

"…Focus," he muttered to himself.

Then—

They sped off.

Fast.

Very fast.

The city lights blurred around them.

Wind rushing.

Her heart racing.

Her laugh broke through the noise.

"YEAHHHH!"

For a moment—

Everything disappeared.

Fear. Chaos. Questions.

Only this moment remained.

Ian smiled.

A real smile.

From his heart.
