Silas stood frozen beneath Salvar's hateful stare.
For once, he genuinely had no response.
The room remained painfully quiet after what had just happened.
Silas finally turned away first.
He walked back toward the chair beside the window and sat down heavily, resting his forehead against one hand before taking a slow breath.
"Let's pretend it never happened," he said at last, carefully avoiding Salvar's gaze while staring at his fingernails.
Salvar stared directly at him for several seconds.
Then laughed once in disbelief.
"Let's not pretend it never happened." His voice sharpened immediately. "You've assaulted me multiple times already."
"We shouldn't dwell on the past," Silas replied flatly. "It was a very wise quote said by a very wise person."
Oh.
Now they were pretending.
Salvar clenched his fist before slowly loosening it again.
No.
This was wrong.
Why was he reacting exactly the way Silas wanted him to react?
Why was he giving him satisfaction?
