Kay Blaire was a troubled child.
At least that's what his teachers told his parents on that crisp autumn day. After yet another fight they'd been called to the school and given an ultimatum. Either Kay fixes his GPA by the end of his freshman year or he would be forced to find another school to terrorize.

Their words, not his. Personally, Kay thought they were all being overly dramatic but his parents certainly didn't.
The car ride home was filled with a heavy silence Kay had never experienced before. When the car came to a stop Kay tried to exit but the doors remained locked.
"Kay…" Kay's father was the first to speak, "Why were you fighting with that boy?"
"Marshal!" Kay's mother reprimanded her husband, "It doesn't matter why! He shouldn't be fighting. Period!"
Kay finally spoke up, "For the record he called me a fa-"
