Chapter 45: The Underground Fight Club
During the week of rest, aside from the one day Akio Tatsuma needed to visit the police station to give his report, there were still six days remaining.
Akio planned to make full use of that time.
He needed to earn money, and he also needed to strengthen his abilities.
So where could he accomplish both at once?
The underground market.
More specifically—illegal fighting rings.
That's right. Akio decided to participate in underground fights.
Places like that were filled with all kinds of dangerous individuals. Fighting there would not only earn him money but also help him sharpen his combat skills.
It was the perfect opportunity.
As for Sakura's suggestion that he move in with her, Akio had already declined.
He didn't think it was appropriate to live together. After all, they weren't actually siblings, and living under the same roof would be awkward.
Of course, Akio treated Sakura purely as an older sister. But that didn't mean it would be wise to move in with her.
Besides, he had too many secrets.
If he stayed there for too long, something might slip.
Another concern was the League of Villains. They had already noticed him. If they discovered his connection to Ying, she might become a target.
That was a risk Akio absolutely couldn't take.
Because of the hero system's strict enforcement, most underground markets had been shut down.
Only a few had survived by moving deeper underground.
Those were the kinds of places Akio was looking for.
But finding them wasn't easy.
He wandered through narrow streets and back alleys, asking people who looked like they might know something.
Usually, people like that had information.
But sometimes he ran into dead ends.
"Excuse me—"
"Get lost! Don't bother me!" a blond man snapped before Akio could finish speaking.
Akio rubbed his hands together and sighed.
"Well… that's unfortunate."
Then he grabbed the man and dragged him into an empty alley.
"What are you doing?" the blond man shouted angrily.
But a moment later, his expression changed.
He realized he couldn't move at all.
It felt like some invisible force had locked his body in place.
When they reached the alley, Akio noticed a surveillance camera nearby.
He casually lifted a finger.
The camera slowly turned away, as if pushed by an unseen hand.
"Now," Akio said calmly, setting the man down, "tell me where I can find an underground fighting ring."
The blond man blinked in confusion.
"Underground fights?"
After thinking for a moment, he nodded.
"I know one… but it's dangerous. People die there."
Akio smiled slightly.
"That's exactly the kind of place I'm looking for."
The blond man hesitated, then pulled out his phone and showed Akio the location.
It was in Shibuya.
Akio memorized the location and let him go.
Without wasting any time, Akio bought a train ticket to Shibuya.
With his current strength, ordinary fighters were no threat.
He had already defeated even a Nomu.
What could a group of underground fighters possibly do?
Still, he remained cautious.
Places like that attracted all kinds of people.
There might even be truly dangerous opponents there.
About thirty minutes after arriving in Shibuya, Akio followed the directions to the back of a large shopping complex.
At the rear entrance stood a heavy metal door.
Two bald men in suits guarded it.
Akio walked up calmly.
"I'm here to fight," he said.
The two guards looked at him in surprise.
"Kid, who told you there were fights here?" one of them asked.
"A friend who comes here often," Akio replied casually.
The guard shook his head.
"Sorry. No minors. No introductions. No entry."
Akio frowned.
Even underground fighting rings had rules?
After thinking for a moment, he walked into a nearby corner.
From his bag, he pulled out a black cloak.
Then he put on a familiar mask.
The Tiga Ultraman mask he had used before.
Once he finished changing, he returned to the door.
The guards looked at him cautiously.
"Who are you?"
Akio lowered his voice.
"Can't you tell?"
The two guards exchanged confused glances.
"No. Please identify yourself."
Akio snorted.
"You two really have no sense at all."
"I am the Legend of the Night."
The two men froze.
"Legend of the Night?"
One of them suddenly remembered something and stared at Akio in shock.
"You mean the vigilante who appears at night… the one who hunts criminals?"
Akio sighed.
"Finally."
"Yes. That's me."
But the guard still hesitated.
"We still need proof."
Akio raised his hand slightly.
Both guards suddenly floated into the air, lifted by an invisible force.
"Is that enough proof?" Akio asked calmly.
"Yes! Yes!" they shouted quickly.
The two men hurriedly opened the metal door.
Inside was a dark underground corridor.
Dim red lights flickered along the walls.
They weren't electric lights.
They were candles.
Akio walked down a staircase that seemed to descend endlessly.
After nearly a hundred steps, he reached the bottom.
A massive red metal gate stood before him.
Two strange guards stood there.
One had the head of a crocodile.
The other resembled a dinosaur.
Without saying a word, they opened the gate.
The moment the door swung open—
A wave of noise crashed over Akio.
Cheers.
Shouts.
Roaring crowds.
Inside was a massive underground arena.
Hundreds of people surrounded a huge fighting ring under bright lights.
The underground fight club was alive.
