Chapter 44: Aftermath of the USJ Incident
"What?"
The people on the television reacted with disbelief.
"Yes," Kurogiri replied calmly. "The student named Akio Tatsuma is extremely strong. From what I could sense, he appears to possess two different abilities."
"One of them is lightning. As for the other… I couldn't identify it clearly."
"Akio Tatsuma…" the person on the screen repeated slowly.
After a brief pause, the voice spoke again.
"Shigaraki Tomura, I'll leave that student to you."
"I do not want to see the same result again."
Shigaraki didn't respond immediately. Instead, he replayed the events at U.A. High School in his mind.
That group of troublesome students.
Without Akio Tatsuma, Shoto Todoroki, Bakugo Katsuki, and Izuku Midoriya, even the Symbol of Peace—All Might— might have died there.
If that had happened, the League of Villains would have gained enormous prestige.
Villains from across the country would have gathered under their banner.
The so-called sacred ground of heroes—U.A. High School—could have been shaken to its core.
But now it was pointless to think about it.
The plan had failed.
Fortunately, Nomu had been recovered. Their losses were not severe, and Nomu remained the League's most valuable weapon.
"No matter how frustrated you feel, it won't change the outcome," the voice from the screen continued.
"This failure won't be meaningless."
"Gather stronger allies. Move carefully."
"We can't act freely in the open, which is why a symbol like you is necessary."
The voice paused before speaking again.
"Shigaraki Tomura… next time, make the world feel your terror."
U.A. High School
"Sixteen… seventeen… eighteen… nineteen…"
Detective Naomasa Tsukauchi counted the students carefully.
Despite everything they had just gone through, most of the students still seemed energetic.
"Guess where I ended up?" Yuga Aoyama said proudly while adjusting his hair.
No one answered him.
"It sounds like you only ran into a few minor villains," Fumikage Tokoyami said while talking with other classmates, clearly not paying attention.
Eijiro Kirishima clenched his fists enthusiastically.
"They really underestimated us, treating us like little kids!"
Aoyama sighed dramatically but continued fixing his hair.
Tsukauchi raised his hand.
"Alright, students. You should return to your classroom for now. You can't all question us at once."
"Detective… what about Mr. Aizawa?" Tsuyu Asui asked, hopping forward.
"He's fine," Tsukauchi replied reassuringly."A few broken ribs and some surface injuries, but nothing life-threatening."
"And Thirteen?" Mina Ashido asked quickly.
"The treatment is finished. The injuries on their back and arm were serious, but they'll recover."
Tsukauchi then looked around at the students.
"All Might is also fine. I heard that one of your classmates, Akio Tatsuma, played a major role in helping during the battle. We'll need him to visit the police station later to assist with the investigation."
"Akio Tatsuma?"
The students exchanged glances.
By now, everyone understood that Akio had played a crucial role in the fight.
Many of the villains had been defeated by him alone.
Even Tsukauchi was still shocked.
A student had taken down nearly forty villains during the battle.
That level of combat ability was extraordinary.
However, because several villains had died during the confrontation, Akio would still need to cooperate with the police investigation.
USJ Training Facility
Looking at the devastated training ground, Principal Nezu sighed.
"It seems we'll need to significantly strengthen the school's security."
Midnight shrugged.
"Teleportation abilities are extremely rare… yet the villains happened to have one."
Nezu nodded thoughtfully.
"We also have rare abilities among our students."
"For example… Akio Tatsuma."
Nearby, Snipe adjusted the weapon at his waist.
"That kid is a rare talent."
"With the right guidance, he could become something truly remarkable."
Later That Day
The League of Villains' attack had officially ended.
Two Nomu corpses were recovered by the police and taken away for research.
Classes at U.A. High School were suspended for the rest of the week while the school repaired the damage and reorganized its security.
During that time, Akio Tatsuma would also need to report to the police station to explain what had happened during the battle.
Evening
After returning home, Akio immediately went to visit Inoue Sakura.
She had been extremely worried after hearing the news about the attack.
When she saw him standing there unharmed, she finally relaxed.
"Sister Ying, look—I'm completely fine," Akio said, jumping around to prove it.
Only then did she let out a long sigh of relief.
After carefully looking him over, she said softly,
"Akio… why don't you move in with me?"
"You shouldn't live alone. It's hard to take care of yourself like that."
Akio froze.
Move in with her?
That would be a problem.
It wasn't that he had any strange thoughts—he truly saw Inoue Sakura as an older sister.
But if he lived there, many of his secrets would eventually be exposed.
He had previously explained some of his abilities as simple quirks.
If too much time passed, the truth might slip out.
More importantly—
The League of Villains had already noticed him.
If they discovered his connection to Ying, she could become a target.
That was a risk he absolutely couldn't allow.
For now, the League of Villains might remain quiet.
But after the events at U.A., the world had already begun to change.
And the next storm was only a matter of time.
