Raynare was fuming. She deeply regretted choosing these two as her companions. One was a blabbermouth, the other was a mute, and both were more trouble than they were worth. When problems arose, they were always the first to sell out their teammate. If she hadn't known them for so long, Raynare would have loved to pinch Mittelt's cheeks until they turned blue.
"Master, do you believe me or Mittelt? I am your hand-picked head maid, and you are so powerful—I have no reason to run! Even if a Fallen Angel cadre came, I believe Master would find a way to protect us!" Raynare's acting was top-notch, her face changing faster than a Sichuan opera mask.
"Enough, don't pull that crap with me. If you weren't so cooperative, you'd have been sent to join Dohnaseek long ago," Rhode chuckled. "But you were right about one thing: Kokabiel has been killed by me. You don't need to worry about any of that nonsense."
"I knew Master was the best to us!" Raynare's smile was like a blooming chrysanthemum, but then her eyes widened as if she had just heard the most shocking news.
Master... had actually killed a cadre like Kokabiel?! Just now?!
It had been less than ten minutes since Master left the house! Furthermore, cadre-level Fallen Angels were nearly god-like figures in the eyes of low-class Fallen Angels like them. Yet such a being at the pinnacle of the race had been killed by Master? Just how strong was he? Raynare and the others couldn't even fathom it; in their worldview, a cadre was the absolute peak of power. Was the only thing above that the Governor General, Azazel?
However, they clearly weren't going to get any more information from Rhode. Having moved around a bit, Rhode felt hungry and asked Raynare to make him some Yellow Braised Chicken. Despite having been in this world for a while, Rhode still kept many of his old habits.
"Right away!" Raynare agreed instantly, her movements faster than ever. Since the fridge was well-stocked, Rhode and the group were eating a hot meal about half an hour later. Afterward, they each headed to the bathrooms.
"Lord Rhode, see you tomorrow." Asia, in her pajamas, waved to Rhode from her bedroom door.
"Mhm, see you tomorrow." Rhode nodded.
Back in his room, Rhode went over the events of the night. Although Kokabiel had still attacked Rias, Rhode's intervention had caused a massive impact. Such devastation in Kuoh Town would surely leave the residents in a state of panic, not to mention the eyewitnesses. With everyone today filming things on their phones and posting them online, it was going to be a busy night.
More importantly, Kokabiel had been dealt with before Xenovia and Irina even reached Kuoh. Because he died so quickly, he hadn't even had the chance to reveal the truth that "God is Dead" before he kicked the bucket. This meant Xenovia wouldn't be falling into despair and defecting from the Church just yet.
Not feeling sleepy, Rhode leaned back in bed and opened the TokTik app, setting his location to local. After scrolling for a bit, he found that the night in Kuoh wasn't quite as "exciting" as he had expected. While there were many videos about the explosions, and some had even uploaded footage of the ruins in the city center, they were being deleted at an incredible speed.
Rhode was surprised. That was fast!
After scrolling through a dozen more videos, all footage related to the scene was gone, replaced by abstract short videos from locals. Even the Japanese had their own version of "cringe" social dancing.
Swiping past that brain-rotting content, Rhode wasn't too surprised. Although it was a big incident, Kuoh was still Devil territory. To prevent certain videos from going viral and causing a public outcry, many supernatural factions had their own internet monitoring departments. As for the eyewitnesses, they would likely have their memories wiped by the Devils later. The explosions and ruins could easily be explained away as an underground gas line explosion.
"Watch closely, this woman is named Xiao Mei..."
After scrolling through videos for a while, sleepiness finally took over. As Rhode drifted off, the phone naturally slipped from his hand.
A short while later, Lavinia, rubbing her eyes after a trip to the bathroom, expertly crawled into Rhode's bed. She was soon distracted by the sound from the phone. Poking her head out from the covers, she used a finger to turn it off, then snuggled back in, curling up in the crook of Rhode's arm.
A lot had happened today. Between the battle and Vali appearing without even saying hello, Lavinia's mood was quite low. She could only seek comfort from Rhode. However, looking at Rhode's sleeping face, she recalled how he had been taking advantage of her lately. In that case, she would get him back just a little bit.
Lavinia's hands felt around Rhode and soon found a pair of "magic balls."
"Oh... are these the 'magic balls' people talk about online? It seems doing that makes men feel more relaxed..." Lavinia recalled the knowledge she had gathered from the internet and manga, and began to follow the steps as best she could.
Actually, the moment Lavinia had snuggled up to him, Rhode had already woken up.When those delicate hands cupped the "magic orbs," Rhode let out a soft, dry swallow.
While Lavinia's attitude had been somewhat vague before, was this... a total confirmation of their status?
With all sleepiness gone, Rhode initially wanted to flip the script then and there. However, he immediately remembered that Lavinia was currently on her period. He could only suppress his urges and let her take the lead, giving her free rein to explore.
"Hehe, Little Rhode is awake," Lavinia whispered, a soft giggle escaping her lips from behind him.
Hearing those words, Rhode could no longer hold back. I'm a veteran driver; did you really think you, a complete amateur, could tease me like this?
Even if it was her time of the month, that didn't mean they couldn't do anything.
Rhode immediately flipped over, staring fiercely at the blushing, bashful Lavinia.
"Um, I... it's not convenient for me these few days."
"I know, but I happen to know a few other techniques..."
Rhode didn't give Lavinia a chance to argue. He dove straight into a round of "Two Dragons Playing with the Pearl."
