"Why has it become so hard to find you these days? You don't even show up at your hotel anymore."
Demir let out a low laugh after his friend Jabir asked him. They were sitting in a bar, drinking wine.
"Hmm… maybe because life isn't boring anymore," he replied casually, as the image of a certain woman came to his mind.
Jabir didn't understand him at all. He knew Demir well and his usual habits—he was often the one who kept him company whenever he was free. But lately, Demir had been acting very strangely, enough to make him worried.
Still, he knew he wouldn't get answers right away. But he didn't give up—he was determined to find out what was keeping his friend so unusually busy.
Suddenly, as if remembering something important, Jabir placed his glass on the table and asked eagerly,
"Tell me, what made you go and play the piano in front of people that day? That's not like you."
"It's nothing unusual," Demir replied calmly. "Just think of it as the hotel boss deciding to give customers a surprise performance on Valentine's Day."
Jabir laughed mockingly, clearly not convinced.
"Go tell that to someone else, not me. In fact, I feel like that 'surprise performance' of yours turned into bad luck and ruined that lawyer's proposal."
"Lawyer?" Demir asked, surprised. He didn't know Oscar, so this was new information to him.
"You don't know?" Jabir continued. "He's very famous here in Fox. It's said he has never lost a case. But that woman… she's very cruel."
"I haven't seen any cruelty from her," Demir interrupted. Somehow, he didn't like hearing that woman being spoken about badly. "Everything has a reason. I believe there's a reason behind it."
Jabir gave him a strange look before speaking.
"The way you're defending her, someone might think you know her very well."
Demir didn't reply. He just smiled and continued drinking his wine.
"Anyway… what about Susan?"
'Susan.'
Demir's face suddenly changed when he heard that name.
