Rain poured steadily around them.
For a moment, neither Camille nor Dante spoke.
The sound of Victor breathing through the phone filled the silence instead.
Then Camille laughed once.
A short, disbelieving sound.
"What?"
Victor sounded stressed. "That is not the reaction people usually have to becoming billionaires."
"I'm not a billionaire."
"Camille," Victor said carefully, "your account balance currently says otherwise."
Dante's expression had gone unreadable beside her.
Too calm.
That usually meant his mind was moving dangerously fast.
Camille stared at the rain dripping from the edge of the underpass.
"This has to be fake."
"It's not fake," Victor replied immediately. "I already checked the transfer route."
"And?"
"And I'm trying very hard not to panic."
Not encouraging.
Dante finally spoke.
"Where did the money come from?"
Victor hesitated again.
"That's the weird part."
Camille folded her arms tightly against the cold.
