Penelope's POV
"There's something I need to share with you," I began, gripping my coffee mug like it held the answers to all my problems. "But you have to promise to keep this between us."
Felicity raised an eyebrow, that mischievous glint appearing in her eyes whenever she sensed gossip approaching. She scooted her chair closer to our small corner table, lowering her voice to match mine.
"You and your boss finally figured it out, didn't you?"
Heat flooded my cheeks, and I couldn't suppress the laugh that bubbled up. Felicity had this uncanny ability to see straight through any pretense. Nothing stayed hidden from her for long.
"Yes," I confessed, feeling that familiar flutter whenever thoughts of Bernie crossed my mind. "We're giving it a real shot. Just keeping things quiet for now since I still report directly to him."
"How's it been?" she asked, leaning forward with genuine interest, no trace of judgment in her expression.
