The warm glow of the living room lamps cast everything in golden hues, a stark contrast to the bustling energy of London beyond my windows. I had selected a mellow classic rock playlist while preparing tea for both of us, desperate to hold onto the tranquil sensation our countryside adventure had gifted me.
"This cup is quite something," Bernie chuckled, examining the mug I had offered him.
I looked at the design and found myself grinning. It featured a drowsy feline with "Don't talk to me before my morning coffee" emblazoned in bold typography across its surface. One of my absolute favorites.
"A present from Maya," I said, curling up on the sofa next to him and folding my legs beneath me. "She claimed it captured my essence perfectly."
"She understands you completely," he remarked, sampling the earl grey I had prepared. "Multiple cups really?"
