-Julien Grayson:
I stared at him.
For a second… I genuinely couldn't process what he had just said.
"My pack attacked you?"
The words felt wrong in my mouth.
They didn't fit together.
They didn't make sense.
A quiet, almost disbelieving laugh left me before I could stop it, and I shook my head slightly, pushing a strand of hair behind my ear as I looked at him again.
"That's not possible."
My voice wasn't loud, but it was firm.
Confident.
Because I knew my pack.
I knew my family.
"We don't do that," I continued, my brows knitting together as I tried to make him understand. "We don't just… attack people. Especially not without a reason."
He didn't interrupt me.
Didn't react.
He just stood there, watching me with that same unreadable expression, like he was waiting for me to finish.
It made something in my chest tighten.
Because he didn't look defensive.
He didn't look guilty.
He just looked… certain.
