(BLUE'S POV)
"Couldn't sleep?" I asked without looking up from the cutting board.
Victor drifted out of the shadows, soundless as always. "I don't need sleep. Remember?"
"Right."
The knife kept a steady rhythm against the wooden board.
For a while, the kitchen was filled with nothing but the soft thud of steel meeting wood.
Then Victor spoke again.
"I think they finally found you, Dad."
I let out a slow sigh.
"You're talking about the six newborn vampires who've been circling the forest around my estate since four this morning?"
Victor blinked. "You already knew?"
I almost laughed.
"Victor, I'm over nine hundred years old. Did you really think six newborns could wander around my territory for hours without me noticing?"
He scratched the back of his neck before giving a small nod.
"I figured you probably knew... but yes. That's who I meant."
His expression darkened.
