Claire's POV
The drive to the Smiths' mansion was a long one.
After the call, the atmosphere of explicit touches had long dissipated and we were now stuck in our own heads, wondering.
My mind drifted back to Aston and Kelsey, they were likely there. Taking the timing of the call into consideration, I wanted to hope the call for a visit didn't have anything to do with them.
On the drive, neither of us said much, both caught in the quiet pull of expectation and wondering. Whatever they had called us in for, whatever waited on the other side of those gates, it sat heavy in the air between us.
By the time we arrived at the Smith estate, I found myself… incredibly enamored. It wasn't shocking to see, it was no news that the Smiths were wealthy. That wasn't new, but seeing it in person was something else entirely. The land stretched endlessly before us, expensive in a way that didn't need announcing. It simply was.
