The day at school was unpleasantly ordinary, so much so that I didn't know whether to be happy that nothing had gone wrong or disappointed given my expectations.
Even though the classroom looked more like a garbage dump than anything else and several fights had broken out here and there, the students seemed to be avoiding causing too much damage to the school. This was surely due to the fact that Vex could come at any moment, and if anything bothered her, everyone would be in for a very bad day.
Unfortunately, I didn't find any useful information about Lilith. All I could learn were rumors about a notorious serial killer who has been murdering several people in recent weeks. He's so secretive that no one has managed to catch him yet, which has thrown the neighborhood into chaos—more chaos than usual, anyway.
On the way, Taeki asked James to help him catch this murderer, saying he couldn't let him kill any more people. James categorically refused, saying he had nothing to do with it, which infuriated him.
"And what if he attacks you, you idiot? Come on, stop being selfish and help me!"

James rubbed his face dramatically and said, exasperated:
"You're really stupid, aren't you?" You don't have to be a genius to figure it out, but it's simple: if you notice this killer, he follows a very precise pattern. In fact, he only attacks girls our age, and I doubt he does that because he's a pervert. No, the most logical explanation is that he's looking for someone, and last I checked, I have a penis, so I'm definitely not the person he's looking for.
These words were the catalyst that allowed me to understand everything. How could I not have understood sooner!
If James's explanation is correct, it means he's looking for a girl who's more or less our age, and apparently Lilith is hiding from someone, which necessarily means that the person the serial killer is looking for can be none other than Lilith! If I manage to find this killer and learn about this girl's characteristics, then I could have a solid lead to find her!
"Now that I've cleared things up, I'm asking you to stop annoying me, okay?" James continued. "Ah! We can stop at a café, I really need to go!" he finally said.
