Chapter 5 - Prolog_5

As we walked through the corridors, I couldn't help but observe this place called a school with a very attentive eye. After all, it was my first time here... or no, actually, my second time. But I sincerely hope that the memories of my first visit fade from my mind, like so many events that took place in the great kingdom of Nyrakar. Every time I try to recall certain events, I can unfortunately only see a fog... Or should I say, fortunately?

In any case, this school differs from my memories in several ways. For example, I don't think there were so many tattooed people and so much graffiti, not to mention the staggering number of people fighting in the corridors. It almost seemed like the school was located in the capital of crime... Oh, actually, we really are in the capital of crime.

I was a little afraid someone would provoke us, but no one dared look James and Taeki in the eye, which made me realize that even though they seemed nice, they weren't the kind of people you shouldn't push your luck. Anyway, I wasn't planning on doing that. My only goal is to find Lilith and protect her until I find Lina.

I've been thinking about this a lot these past few days, and I've come to a certain conclusion: Lilith wasn't using her real name. I asked Taeki and James if they knew it, but they seemed to have no idea. Besides, if the white figure asked me to protect her, it means she must be being pursued and therefore hiding from her pursuers, which makes it perfectly logical that she's using a false name.

James snapped me out of my thoughts with a light tap on the shoulder while giving me a hard look.

"Dude, why is your face so tense? You'll get wrinkles if you keep this up, you know that?" he said, laughing, then turned to Taeki and said:

"By the way, have you heard about that infamous killer who's been roaming the area lately? Wow, it's giving me goosebumps, isn't it?"

Taeki looked at him for a moment and asked what he planned to do about it, to which he shrugged and said:

"Honestly, I don't really care what happens to other people, so as long as he doesn't attack me, I won't do anything to him."

And before we could finish our conversation, we had already arrived in front of the classroom.
