The FaceTime screen was grainy, but Marcus's grin was clear. "I'm telling you, Jay, if we survive this Corporate Analysis elective next semester, we're golden. We'll be the top analysts in the city."
Jay leaned back in the plush velvet chair of Roman's library, a textbook open on his lap. "We've already survived years of this, Marcus. One more semester won't kill us."
"Easy for you to say," Marcus laughed. "You're living in a 'house-sitting' while I'm eating ramen in a dorm. Speaking of which, when am I actually going to see this place? Or are you still keeping your 'rich benefactor' a secret?"
Jay's smile faltered. Marcus had no idea that the "benefactor" was ,the man currently holding Jay's heart and life in his hands. As an orphan, Jay had worked so hard for his scholarship, and Marcus was the only person who knew him as just Jay, not Roman's boy.
Suddenly, a notification slid across Jay's phone.
