The silence in the office had turned sharp, uncomfortable, pressing into everyone watching. Jay didn't say anything else. He didn't explain. He didn't defend himself. He just held that look for a second longer, then stepped forward, took the laptop from Roman's hand without force, placed it down on Nina's desk, and turned away.
Roman's expression didn't change immediately, but something shifted in his eyes, something colder, more controlled. He didn't call Jay back. He didn't stop him. Instead, he turned slightly.
