Gu Ning had only added a couple of stitches to the little bird doll in her hands when a shadow fell over her.
Her hands froze. Looking up, she saw the Little Fairy Bird had returned and quickly hid the doll behind her back.
"Philinos, you... you didn't make a sound," Gu Ning said, clutching her chest.
Philinos's gaze swept over the beads scattered on the carpet, but he acted as if he hadn't seen a thing. "I don't feel comfortable leaving you in the room by yourself," he said. "You need to stay within my line of sight."
Hearing this, Gu Ning suddenly realized it was just her and Philinos in the room. Even Cook was gone.
'He needs to watch me to feel at ease?'
"In that case..." Gu Ning craned her neck, looking left and right. She scrambled up from the floor and scurried over to the floor-to-ceiling window, pulling the half-drawn curtains completely open to reveal the entire courtyard outside.
"This way, you can... see me," Gu Ning said, turning to smile at the Little Fairy Bird.
