Shirley Thorne had Florence Langley help her with some heavy makeup. The foundation and concealer were twice the usual amount, caked on her face in a thick layer.
"Ma'am, does your skin really need all this?"
Florence Langley held the makeup sponge, tapping it lightly with her fingers. She didn't dare press too hard, afraid of hurting Shirley's jade-like skin.
"You just don't get it!"
Shirley Thorne raised her eyebrows smugly and laughed. "I'm in a 'heartbroken' state right now. My complexion is bound to be terrible, so of course I have to wear heavy makeup."
'Only with heavy makeup will Meredith Rowan not get suspicious. She'll think I'm genuinely heartbroken.'
Florence Langley shrugged. "All right."
As a tough woman who spent her days wielding weapons, she had the skill to apply makeup, but not the concept behind it. In her eyes, what was the difference between heavy makeup and light makeup? Wasn't it all just slapping a layer of stuff on your face?
