Chapter 7 - The eternal vow in the Golden Sea

The group settled into a small, rustic café by the shore about ten o'clock in the morning. The sun was still gentle, casting a soft glow over the sparkling waves. They drank refreshing coconut water and eat light snacks, the salty breeze adding a special flavor to their meal.

As soon as they finished, Lily, Mia and Elara grabbed their swim rings, shouting with joy.

" Rosie! Come on! The water is perfect to swim like a fish. "

Lily called out, waving her hand.

But Rosalie shook her head with a calm smile.

" You guys go ahead. I'll join you later. "

She watched them run toward the ocean waves, but her mind was filled with some plans. She knew what the next day would bring, and she couldn't afford to waste a single moment. She needed to be alone with Julian, to build the bridge of trust they would need for the coming storm.

Julian, who had been watching her intently, leaned in,

" Is everything okay, Rosie? You seem a bit …. preoccupied. "

Rosalie turned to him; her gaze soft but determined.

" Julian, remember what you said about the horse ride? I'd like to do that now. Can we ride together to the sunflower fields? "

Julian's heart skipped a beat at her request.

" Of course, "

He said, his voice filled with a quiet joy.

" I'll arrange the horses right away. "

He didn't know yet that this ride wasn't just for sightseeing. For Rosalie, every step the horses took toward the golden fields was a step toward changing their destiny forever.

Whether it was fate or a lucky coincidence, there was only one horse left at the stable-a majestic, chestnut-colored stallion with a powerful build. Since there were no other horses available, they had no choice but to share.

At first, Julian carefully helped Rosalie onto the saddle. He walked beside her, holding the reins, acting like a devoted guardian as they strolled along the shoreline.

Back at the sea, the 'Trio of Trouble' watched them go together, smirking and high-fiving each other in silent victory.

As the distant lighthouse and the waving yellow sunflower fields came into view, the sand gave way to firmer ground. Julian smoothly hopped onto the horse, settling in right behind Rosalie. The sudden closeness made their hearts dance in sync with the waving sunflowers in the breeze.

Feeling the warmth of his chest behind her, Rosalie reached back-half by accident, half by design and firmly grasped Julian's hands as they held the reins. She held on tight, as if he were her only anchor in the world. Julian froze for a second, his breath hitching, before he gently tightened his grip, silently promising to never let her go again. Quietly kissing her flying hair as it danced in th breeze.

As they reached the edge of the sunflower field, the lighthouse loomed protectively behind them. Julian pulled the reins and hopped down first and reached out his arms to help Rosalie. For a lingering second, he held her waist as she stepped down, the warmth of his touch making her sure this was not a dream.

For a breathless moment, Julian lifted her slender body into his arms. Rosalie instinctively seeking balance, wrapped her arms tightly around his neck. Their eyes met, and the world seemed to stand still amidst the sea of yellow. As he gently put her feet back on the ground, the warmth of their closeness lingered

They walked deeper into the sea of gold, where the sunflowers were taller than them, creating a private world of their own.

" It's so beautiful here, Julian, "

Rosalie whispered, her fingers brushing the sunflower petals, lost in thoughts. She turned to look at him, her gaze were more softer than a morning sunshine.

Julian, feeling a rush of shyness, quickly looked away and ran his hand through the hair at the back of his neck, ruffling it nervously.

" i've felt this kind of peaceful freedom in a long time, "

She murmured, gazing into the distance.

Julian tilted his head to look at her, surprise.

" Why is there something troubling with you, Rosie? "

He asked softly.

Rosalie suddenly stopped her step. She turned and look Julian directly in the eyes, her gaze lingering for a long moment. As she stared into his deep brown eyes, her look was filled with countless meanings he couldn't quite decipher.

" Julian .... how do you see me? "

She asked, her voice steady but intense.

" What do I truly mean to you? "

Julian's breath hitched, his heart began to pound against his chest like a drum. He stared back at her, lost in her beauty and the seriousness of her question.

" If I teel you the truth .... "

He whispered, his voice trembling slightly.

" Will you be angry with me, Rosalie ? "

" I won't be angry, Julian. You can tell me anything. "

Rosalie replied softly. Julian took a deep breath, stepping closer until he could feel the warmth radiating from her.

He reached out and gently placed his hands on her shoulders, his touching trembling ever so slightly.

" If you were a beautiful sunflower, Rosalie... I'd want you to be the one that always turns toward me, "

He whispered, his brown eyes drowning in hers.

" And I.. I want to be the sun that keeps you warm, the one that you look for every single morning. "

His grip on her shoulders tightened instinctively, a mix of anxiety and longing reflected in his gaze.

" If I asked you never to leave me .... If I begged you to stay by my side forever ... could you like to do that for me? Would you stay? "

The silence that followed was filled only with sound of the wind through the flowers and the frantic drumming of Julian's heart, as he waited for the answer that would change his life.

Hearing Julian's heart-wrenching plea, a beautiful, deep smile spread across Rosalie's face, her dimples showing clearing for the first time. " I found you, ' she thought, her heart aching with a decade's worth of longing. ' After all the cold nights of mourning, after the blood and betrayal ... you're finally here, warm and real, right infront of me.'

I previous life, her own clearlessness and arrogance had led to the loss of this man-the husband she love more than life itself. Now, standing here at the beginning of their story again, her heart overflowed with a bittersweet joy.

She remembered his cold hands in her previous life, and the way the light had faded from his eyes because of her mistakes. This time, she wouldn't let him be the only one protecting her.

She looked at him, her eyes shining with unspeakable love. While she was terrified of the dangers still lurking in the shadows, she knew she couldn't tell him the whole truth yet. But thi time, she wasn't the helpless girl she used to be. She had a plan. She would be his shield as much as he wanted to be her sun.

" I won't go anywhere, Julian, "

She said, her voice soft but filled with an iron-clad certainty. She reached up, placing her hands on his on her shoulders.

" I'll be your sunflower and I'll stay by your side until the sun itselt stop shining. As long as you want me, I'll stay right here by your side, I promise. "

Julian felt as if a heavy weight had been lifted from his chest. He didn't see the fleeting shadow of her concern in her eyes as she thought about the enemies they would soon face. He only saw the girl he loved, smiling at him as if he were her entire world.

Julian's eyes softened, and he felt a strange, inexplicable depth in her gaze-as if she were promising him more than a summer romance. He pulled into a sudden, tight embrace, burying his face in her hair. She hold him back warpping around his waist.

She had already set her traps. She had already moved her pawns. Ethan and his mother would soon find out that the 'delicated flower' they planned to pluck had grown throns of steel. For Julian's safety, she was ready to become the villiain in someone's else's story.
